Oh boy. [He sighs, frowning deeply. How to explain this...]

Okay, drawings. Everyone knows drawings. Imagine a couple of drawings of the same rabbit. Same pose and everything, so they're almost identical, but in each drawing, his ear's flicked at a slightly different angle. If you take the drawings and flick through them really quickly, it's like the rabbit's ear is actually moving.

Are you still followin' me?

I believe I am grasping the concept you are presenting to me, yes.

Okay, so that concept? That's called animation. Now picture more and more drawings being made. That way, the rabbit can end up doing all sorts of stuff. You can even add more characters to the scene, or move it to a different background. Like... The rabbit meets a nice cat, and together they start traveling to... To the beach. Yeah. As long as enough drawings are added to the mix, stories like that can be told.

That's the basic concept of a cartoon; Telling amazing stories with animation. [...] Of course, you can't do anything with just the drawings. First you need to transfer it to a real medium, like... a projector or a television. Anything that'll play the animation without you having to flip the drawings yourself, ya know?

It's uh... [Okay, this one is a lot tougher to explain. He's from before the TV era.]

Well, it's what came after projector screens. I wasn't around when they became a big hit, but I've seen 'm in Wasteland. They're like little boxes, right? And they show things on it. Like cartoons. I mean, it'll look like tiny people are inside the box, but it's actually filled with all sorts of dohickeys and devices that can display images.

And none of this technology is powered by the souls of sentient beings, correct?
