All his eyes saw was what he was dreaming
Build a ladder to the starts and the moon
Climb up with every breath left
With every heartbeat not sold a vice.
He could never grow up like the rest
Always sold on a magical bean and lie
Couldn't stay between the sun and the stars
With every step forward he lost a rung.
Arms flung forth like a prayer up the ladder
Vacant smile and a trusting disposition
Harmless, kind, a bit lost was all you could say
Lost in his own dream afraid of the world before him.
Once upon a time he was sweet and innocent
Now it burns behind his eyes in pain
Never growing up means never seeing the truth
Innocence is ignorance
He died an ignorant man.
