Freitag at the Desktag

Oct 07, 2005 20:50

Let's hear it for working the 7-11 shift at the front desk on Friday nights. It was a strange experience when I took these hours. Felt kind of like I was watching myself driving the final nail into the already thoroughly sealed coffin of my social life. So far, I've alternated between reading "The Catcher in the Rye," drudging through a ten page paper about the Kyoto Treaty, and staring off into space.

I also took a few moments to glance through past journal entries, and realized how much this has fragmented as a means of keeping up with people. There's some subtle and inevitable drifting going on in the world at large. Not only that, but I used to be much more original in the content and format of these things. Anyway, I guess there just doesn't seem to be as much point to trying to keep my friends updated via Live Journal when most everyone I know has become too busy for Live Journal.

Mostly I wanted an excuse to use the remarkably adorable "cold" mood guy, seeing as how it's sixty-something degrees outside. I almost started the word "use" with a "y."
