Looooong day. .________.
Today was a long arduous day for me. It was one of the few days in the army where I feel that I made a difference in how everything went, and overall that things got accomplished. Its a good feeling. *Gives myself a pat on the back*
We went to the firing squa... I mean range yesterday. And it rained. And rained. Then stopped. Then rained harder. If you've ever seen that scene in Forrest Gump, thats pretty much how it went. But I layed in the mud, shot the targets. Im requalified marksman again. I did however manage to shoot an extra target this time. I would have gotten a slightly higher score but I forgot which targets I had already shot... so yeah. At least I didnt do what Sgt. Betty did. He shot the wrong lane, and ended up with a 16 of 40. Person next to him got 54 of 40.
So after doing the range thing, Young and I left around 1pm to go to a Miles gear training class. Young is the one in the armbar picture getting his arm hyperextended. Check Devart for that lol. Basically we were the ones tasked with learning how to put all the gear on the vehicles for the company. It was ok. Seemed simple enough. See, the base of the thing is magnetized. So you would think that would make the job a breeze. Well apparently no one sent them the memo that all our vehicles are made of fiberglass. Super. Spent most of the day trying to rig makeshift brackets on 12 vehicles.
Anyway, enough whining about how crappy the day was. On to better news. One of my platoon friends was kind and generous enough to let me borrow his phone to call home. It was my first call stateside since ive been in Korea. I wanted to call Cait, but I needed to talk to my Grandma about some important things. Speaking of which, she now knows about the engagement. I didnt want to tell her about it earlier, mostly because I'm an idiot and tend to overthink things like that. But she knows now, and shes happy for us. Which is a huge load off my mind because I owe her like everything... Everything and more. So Cheers to Grandma!
Anyway. Everyone is going to the field tomorrow. Everyone it seems except our platoon. Because we have no equipment. And yes I know that its horrible to start a sentance with because, but Im doing it anyway. >:D
I guess thats all for now. I need to go sleep. Like now. So tired.
