I think I mentioned just how much fun I've been having in Korea in my last update. Going through the gas chamber and all on my first day. Yeah. It just keeps getting better and better with my unit.
Since we supposedly had nothing better to do, our command decided we should go do level one combatives. The class is /supposed/ to be voluntary. But whatever. It was actually pretty fun. That is, until the clinch drill. Picture if you will, the following: You standing there in your regular ACU uniform, only barefoot. Ten feet away is a guy that easily dwarfs Jon, wearing boxing gloves. Your mission is to go in and grab the guy and put him in a certain position, called a clinch, and hold on for dear life until the referee decides 'you got him'. Meanwhile the guy in boxing gloves is trying to take your head off. And if that all wasnt bad enough, you have to do it four times. Yay. I was fine with it until they told me I couldnt hit him back... x.x!
So I think I got a minor concussion. I'm ok though. I protected the nose and chin well, and neither got hit at all. I'm thankful. Out of 14 people doing the class, eight ended up with bloody noses. So huzzah. We have a weeks break before level two starts up. They said there wasnt anything nearly as bad as the clinch drill in this class so I'm happy about that. I can deal with being sore, but that was just straight brutality.
My camera came in handy throughout the class, so now I have a bunch of combatives pictures on my computer. I think the guys are trying to make me the photographer for the platoon or something. I need to get a better memory card for the camera if thats going to be the case. I missed a really good soccer game that I wanted to go to. The top two professional teams in Korea were playing. Maybe if the Army gets another trip set up, I can go to maybe a playoff game or something. We'll see.
My stuff from Ft Huachuca gets here tomorrow supposedly. Its about time I think.
I guess thats about it. Just been sore and crazy busy and stuff. Talk to you all later. Or at least write/IM or whatever. ^.^
