oh hey

eh. it's been so long.... again.

this is due to the usual lazyness and also because i have been busy with the many changes in my life

so much has happened in the past little while. i will avoid writing a book and do this instead:

  • march 19th - moved out of our place.
  • march 20th - moved into mitsuko's house, a 67 year old former student who is like my japanese grandmother. she was kind enough to offer us to stay at her nice place.
  • march 20th - mike, one of my best friends, came to visit for the second time. this time he came here on his way to australia. it feels good to know that i know a person who i can call my best friend.
  • march 25th - my last day of work. on that evening, my students threw a big farewell party for me. it was so good to see them all. i will miss the relationships that i formed with them. i had a very valuable experience teaching there. i learned a lot from people while feeling like i am helping others learn. i made some good friends while there who i will miss dearly when i move back.
  • march 27th - mike, megan and i travelled to kensei for 3 days, where kyoto (see megan's entry for some pics) and osaka are located. we visited some amazing places and got a taste of traditional japan. seeing kyoto is something that megan and i wanted to do for so long but every time we had any vacation time, we ended up visiting other countries. glad we could do it before leaving.
  • april 3rd - my 2 bebes, megan and mika, left for vancouver. we had a big adventure getting the huge suitcases and mika in her cage to the airport. it involved broken wheels on the heavy suitcases and mika peeing in her cage on the train and then megan instinctively (or stupi....) picking mika up and holding her pee-ee body against herself.
  • april 7th - i move into my friend's place so that i no longer have an 11 pm curfew

i am not sure exactly how much longer i will stay in tokyo. all i know is that i will be back in canada by mid-may. i am staying here longer than megan because there is potential to get a very lucrative short term contract that would help a lot towards the wedding and a future home. all fingers are crossed even though i don't believe in that stuff.

it has been odd living here without megan. the 4 years we've been together, except for when we went back to vancouver to see our families, we've been inseparable. japan without megan is foreign to me. i miss her dearly and i hope this void doesn't start getting to me too much. not that i take her for granted, but being without her is making me appreciate her and our relationship more.
