I've really missed your vignettes, M'eri. You have such a wonderful turn of phrase. I love the imagry of the sweet grass and rain. It's been said that the sense of smell evokes the strongest memories, and having once owned horses, I know all too well the scent of grass in the rain. And, yes, I know "runner" is a code for a person, but that's what makes it so perfect an image. Very nicely done. Please write more.
