Answering some Q's

Comment to this post with "What are these fucking iguanas doing on my coffee table?" and I'll ask you five questions. Answer them and repost the meme in your own journal until we all get sick of questions.

sarahofthedead asked me these.

1. What is your favourite song, and why?

I cannot possibly answer this question. My favorite song changes on pretty much a weekly basis. Is that odd? I mean, it seems odd since everyone can rattle off their favorite song at the drop of a hat, but I can't. Anything Flogging Molly is usually good, Maxwell Murder by Rancid is a good one, Stacy Stasis from ZATS has been persistent lately, and I've been on a slight Against Me! kick, typically Sink Florida Sink.

2. Name one place you've never been that you'd like to go to.

This one's easy: England. London would be awesome, but I generally want to go on the Obnoxious American Tour Of London and see all the sights like Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Square, where Bob Dylan shot the video for Subterranean Homesick Blues, the Tower of London, a castle of some sort, and to eat some fish and chips sold off of a cart. Also, Ireland would be awesome. Tokyo (or Japan in general). Hell, even New York City.

3. What's your favourite scary movie?

See above, re: favorite song. Audition is always going to have a high place for me. American Werewolf in London and The Howling, naturally. Dawn of the Dead remains a fun one. I can't think of the last stunningly good horror movie I saw, though Drag Me To Hell was probably the most fun simply because of the Raimi factor and his love of various horrible fluids. I figure my favorite scary movie will be the first one to actually scare me.

4. What was the last book you read?

I reread Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Prior to that probably Night Watch by Terry Pratchett, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and this book by Christopher Moore whose name I'd have to look up, but that was really good anyway. Also, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls by Steve Hockensmith. I'm currently reading Android Karenina, by Ben H. Winters and Leo Tolstoy.

5. What one skill would you most like to learn?

I want to learn how to play an instrument. Actually, multiple instruments. I've always admired those people who can do several things well, and I can't because I don't have the patience for it. Mostly I want to learn guitar and harmonica. Guitar because it's fun, and harmonica because my grandfather played it on the radio in Chicago in the days before WWII and I'd like to pick up the family instrument.

BONUS QUESTIONS FROM naturalbornkaos

1) Which US state has the best combination of herbs and spices for fried chicken?

I think that's obviously Kentucky, and possibly the only thing you know about where I live. You and the rest of the world!

2) Who would win in a fight between Sonic the Hedgehog and a Level 12 Paladin and how would it go down?

Are we talking WoW Paladin or D&D? D&D Paladin > Sonic > WoW Paladin. At level 12, the WoW Paladin has practically nothing to counteract Sonic's speed. They do have the stun and bubble, which will help make the fight long and boring, but I think Sonic wins it.

3) Which bands have you been listening to the most so far in 2010?

This is a tough one to answer. It's been really random for me, as a year. This is the first time I've had a car with a radio, so I've just been defaulting a lot to the radio station, so lots of classic 70's rock and the occasional modern rock track. My few voluntary listening experience have been like Against Me!, Man Or Astroman? ZATS, maybe The Clash... nothing really stands out.

4) What attracts you to the horror genre above others?

I've always been a big fan of the special effects aspect. Horror movies don't really scare me, but if you can pull off a good-looking on-screen decapitation with blood spray, I'm impressed. This is probably why I hate crappy CGI monsters so much. I've always been into the spectacle of the thing, moreso than the guts and blood (though I do like guts and blood, too). I don't know, that feels like an unsatisfactory answer.

5) You wake up in a locked room with a table, a saw and Cary Elwes in it. What do you do?

We reenact The Princess Bride or possibly Robin Hood Men In Tights.
