“Don’t you have a disguise?”
Jin rolls his eyes, wondering why he even bothered to come with the other. “Models are swarm-free, most of the time.”
“Hmm…I see. Let’s not take your car by the way, it’s only a couple of minutes away from here.”
“Who said anything about taking my car?”
Kazuya pretends not hearing the model’s mumbles and heads out of the house.
The walk to the café was relatively boring except during one moment when a fan came up to Jin and asked for an autograph. Kazuya noticed the way how the fan shot him a dirty look and eyed him up and down like he was some criminal. He could only shake his head and sigh, he would never understand fangirls.
The café, Jin notes, looks very cozy and inviting and he silently wonders why there aren’t much customers. He decides to not think too much about it because it doesn’t really concern him and he needs to stop meddling with other people’s business. He almost chokes on his own saliva when a hand comes in contact with his shoulder, hard. “What the fuck?” he manages to bark after having a minor coughing fit.
“Sorry about that,” Kazuya says, chuckling. “You have to meet this guy right here.”
“Hi!” a tall guy with mismatched eyes waves at him cheerily. “I’m Changmin. Shim Changmin. My brother’s a fan of yours but he’s at the university right now so if it isn’t much, can you wait for him please?”
Jin finds male fans interesting and the perkiness of this guy before him is making him feel good. So he settles for a not bitchy mood today. “Hello, Changmin. I’ll be glad to meet your brother.” He smiles at the taller lad genuinely.
“Cool! He’ll be here in an hour or so. I’ll tell him. I’ll be back, okay? You can order whatever you want, it’s on the house.” Jin just stares. Just how fast can this guy talk?
“He’s cool, huh?”
“Oh,” he snaps out of his dumbfounded state as Kazuya leads him to a table. “Is he really like that?” he inquires. “Changmin, I mean.”
“Yeah. But he’s extra giddy because of your presence. I should’ve warned you but I figured you’re used to having fans everywhere.”
“You and your friend talk too much, you know.”
“I do.”
“Do you always do this?” Jin asks after a waiter takes their order. (“Frappucino please.” “No, get him a latte and a slice of oreo cheesecake. Two orders of those.” “He was asking me, Kame-chan.” “And I was being nice ordering you their bestsellers.”)
“Do what?”
“This. Taking out your clients out for coffee.”
Kazuya shrugs, leaning back his chair. “Not really. This is the first time, actually. Most clients are female and some male clients are way past their twenties. We don’t click.”
“Are you saying that we do?” the model’s tone is a teasing one. Jin has somehow forgotten the fact that he’s supposed to be annoyed at the other. Kazuya’s personality isn’t really that likeable but it’s tolerable…somehow.
“Well…we’re getting there.”
And Jin agrees.
-
“Hay buddy,” Jin greets from the couch as he watches Donghae and the nanny at the front door. Donghae walks up slowly to him and gives him a kiss on the cheek. “How was your day?” he asks as the boy climbs up his lap and leans on his chest. He smiles. He could totally get used to this.
“I got five stars.”
“You did? I’m so proud of you sweetie.” as he gives Donghae a congratulatory kiss, he wonders where the awkwardness has gone to. It seems like he’s naturally good with kids. Or maybe just his own.
“Hey, I have to talk to you about something important.” Jin feels the couch dip and he takes a glance at Kazuya who is watching them with much interest. He clears his throat and continues, “I know how you’re tired of the long trip from school back here, how about we transfer you to another school so you don’t have to wake up early anymore. How does that sound?”
“No!” the kid’s outburst surprises both adults. The way Donghae refused was full of conviction and Jin could only ask why. “I don’t want to leave Hyukkie! No!”
“But baby, it’s for you own good. You do-“
“I think you should just drop the subject.” Kazuya butts in as he pulls Donghae off from Jin’s lap and proceeds to hug him. “I’ve seen him with that boy, they’re inseparable. And if you try to separate them, it’s gonna break his heart. Both of their hearts.”
Jin sees how frustrated Donghae is so he decides to just let him be. “By the way, his teacher talked to me before we left. Apparently, they have this talent show on Friday and the parents are invited. I hope you’ll make it.”
“I-I can’t…” his answer frustrated the young boy further and it was evident in his face as he clings onto Kazuya’s neck tight.
“Why?” Kazuya is just as disappointed as Donghae.
“I have a scheduled photoshoot…”
“…And?”
“And…and I can’t be seen with Donghae in public. They’ll ask if he’s my son.”
“So? He is your son.”
“But I can’t let anyone know about that! My career and reputation is on the line.”
“So you’ll choose your stupid career over your family?”
“I worked hard to be where I am right now, of course this is important!”
“What about your child then? Is he not important?”
“I don’t even know if he’s really mine!”
“What?”
The conversation is stressing Jin out and he couldn’t afford to get and look stressed. He pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs. If Kazuya is to take care of his son, then he has a right to know what’s going on. “Donghae…I think it’s time for him to take a nap.”
Kazuya nods, cooing the little boy and carrying him up his room for a nap.
-
Kazuya stares blankly at Jin and Jin wonders why he told the nanny about the whole situation. “You’re not a reporter spy, are you?” Kazuya laughs and tells him no I’m not and if I am, I would’ve written an article about you already. “I do hope believing you isn’t a wrong decision.”
“I’m pretty sure he’s your son though. But if you’re still not convinced, there’s always the hospital. You could take a DNA test.”
“I don’t know, Kame-chan. Donghae might freak out. And why are you laughing at me?”
“You’ve been calling me Kame-chan.”
“Oh, really?” Jin scratches his head. “I didn’t notice.”
“It’s alright.” Kazuya waves it off with a hand. “But I do think you shouldn’t doubt if Donghae really is your son. Even if he isn’t, just let him consider you as his father. I grew up fatherless and trust me, it’s not cool.”
“I guess it’s stupid of me to think that. I mean, I was hesitating to accept him at first because I honestly don’t like kids. They irritate me. But when Donghae came, we were awkward, yes but I learned how to appreciate him. Having a kid is not so bad after all.”
“Donghae’s a very nice kid. He deserves all the love in the world and I’m glad you could give him that.” Jin nods. To be honest, he’s not sure with his feelings for the kid, still. But that doesn’t really matter. With the few days he’s with Donghae, he has grown attached to him. “Jaejoong ssi mentioned you go out a lot. On dates and whatnot.”
Jin scoffs, rolling his eyes. “Did he really have to say that?”
“Well, he basically told me that so I won’t be surprised if you’re not always at home. I thought I would be forced to move in here if that’s the case but thankfully, you’re here most of the time.”
“I need people in my life too you know.”
“You’re a model. You’re surrounded by people. Aren’t you satisfied with that?”
“I meant people who love me. I admit I’ve been messing around because I’m afraid of commitments. The last time I had one, it didn’t work out and I ended up impregnating that person.”
“Jin, you sleep around too. I won’t be surprised if you have dozens of kids by now.”
“I sleep around with men thank you very much. Men don’t pregnant.”
“I am very much aware of that. Don’t you think it’s time to settle down?”
A small laugh escapes Jin’s lips. “This conversation is sick. I’m very close to assuming that you’re forcing yourself on me.”
“Actually, yes, I am.”
