a/n; i have issues with titles, yes. forgive me. anyway, this is something i've written for SJ Anon Fic Meme. i don't ship QHyuk hard but they're okay. lol so apparently, it was QHyuk day not too long ago. i didn't know there was even a QHyuk day. lol i'm a loser liek that.

Ridiculous, he thinks. Who on the face of the earth falls in love at first sight?

Well, apparently, him.

It was uncalled for, very unexpected. And he blames the new student for it. The new student, Cho Kyuhyun. Cho Kyuhyun, the most gorgeous man he's seen his entire life (with himself excluded of course), "What are you looking at?" but not the nicest man alive.

He blinks, and stares. What now?

"Uhh, I...I like your skin." he rambles out nonsense, earning a chuckle from the other boy.

"Seriously? Do you see these?" Kyuhyun points to the pimples on the right side of his cheek. "I don't think anyone wants blemishes on their skin. I don't want it either."

He stares more, dumbfounded and embarrassed. How can life be so cruel?"

"I see you staring at me the whole week," Kyuhyun points out one time during lunch, munching on a sandwich. Oh yes, he took the liberty to sit with Hyukjae during the period. "Do you like me or something?" it was definitely meant as a joke but for some odd reason, Hyukjae takes it seriously as he answers 'Yes, actually, I do like you a lot.’

"You're funny," Kyuhyun speaks after a heart-pounding three minutes of silence. "You know, I would take that as a joke but I'll assume you were telling the truth. It's okay." he gives Hyukjae a pat on the back and smiles. "I like you a lot too."

And Hyukjae doesn't know whether that was meant as a joke or not. Either way, he's still happy.

He said he likes me too.

That was what's imprinted on his mind for the past few days. He would hang out with Kyuhyun like the usual but the only thing that somehow changed was the fact that they are more touchy, although that still wasn't something that could confirm if they are indeed dating or not. "He likes me," he tells himself for a millionth time that day.

For the next few days, he sees Kyuhyun with another new student, Zhou Mi, who claims to be Kyuhyun's best friend and boy was he so jealous. "Just keep in mind that I don't like you." he tells Zhou Mi one time who, in return, looks at him in confusion.

"Wo ting bu dong*." and Hyukjae facepalms, remembering that Zhou Mi doesn't really understand their language.

There are times when he wonders if Kyuhyun is spending much more time with Zhou Mi on purpose, you know, to make him jealous. Hyukjae knows it's definitely not Kyuhyun's type to flirt just to make someone jealous but who knows. "What? You're gonna make him jealous too?" humors his best friend, Junsu. Hyukjae isn't exactly good in dealing with love problems so he tends to seek advice from people who aren't really much of a help, like Junsu. Junsu is a perfect example.

"You know," he replies after much thought. "That's a pretty cool idea."

Hyukjae immediately carries on with his so-called plan the next day. He would drag Junsu everywhere with him - much to Junsu's dislike - that they're practically stuck with each other. He does it for a week but to his disappointment, Kyuhyun doesn't really give much reaction.

"Junsu!" he calls over his obviously annoyed friend to sit with him on the lunch table. It's not that he wanted to make Kyuhyun jealous again, no, he's given up on that. Kyuhyun, apparently and unfortunately, is one tough cookie. But he just wants someone to actually talk to. It's bad enough that Kyuhyun spends most of his time with the Chinese man, but hearing Chinese conversations all day long is as bad as things could get. He couldn't understand a single word for goodness' sake!

"I'm in a bad mood." declares Junsu, stealing Hyukjae's strawberry milk and gulping it down. "There's this guy sta--"

"Hey," both guys turn to look at a frowning Kyuhyun, "That was indirect kiss."

A grin spreads across Hyukjae's face. He likes me.

It was a short-lived happiness for Hyukjae though, because as soon as Kyuhyun announced what was bothering him, he goes back to his business chatting with the Chinese man. Junsu notices and pats him friend on the back. "You'll be fine."

Hyukjae rolls his eyes at him. "Not really the right thing to say, Junsu. Why are you in a bad mood again?"

"Oh." Junsu's expression seems to darken and Hyukjae could see his grip on the carton of milk tighten, he snatches it even before Junsu could spill all the contents on him. "I have this stalker. Well, used-to-be stalker. He's a stalker-turned-groper. He groped me in the ass, Hyukjae! He groped me!"

The older of the two doesn't quite know how to agree with it so he does what he thinks is right. He pats him on the back and says, "You'll be fine."

Junsu refuses to speak to him after that.

-

You could just imagine the shock that Hyukjae is in when Kyuhyun offers him a walk home. Yes, the tall man has finally made a move, if you could call it that. "But your house is blocks away from mine."

"Blocks." Kyuhyun repeats. "Five blocks. Not that far. I can manage." Hyukjae shuts up and lets the other walk him home. He has a silly smile on his face and Kyuhyun notices. "Why so happy?" he asks, a smile also starting to form his lips.

With a shrug, Hyukjae answers. "I'm happy. To be honest, I think you spend too much time with Zhou Mi and I'm sorry to say this but I'm not liking it at all. I have no idea what our relationship is right now but I don't want seeing you with other guys."

Kyuhyun stops and so does he. "You're jealous, I can't believe this. Didn't I tell you I like you a lot too? Isn't that enough?"

"You seriously think that's enough? Kyuhyun, we might be in highschool but I want serious relationships. I'm not here to mess around like most guys out there."

"Are you implying that I'm most guys?"

"No! Of course not. Why are we even arguing?!" Hyukjae ruffles his newly dyed blonde hair in frustration. "Look, I'm pissed as crap right now so I'd rather walk home alone." and he walks away leaving a stunned Kyuhyun. "I can't believe we argued over something so petty." he whispers to himself.

He doesn't speak to Kyuhyun the next day, and the next day, and the day after that.

-

"I see you ignoring him. What's up?"

“Aren’t we in a fight?” he gives Junsu a confused look and the other chuckles. "You know we really don't fight. It's a petty fight, let's get over with it."

At that moment, Hyukjae wants to slap himself. "Why am I always involved in a petty fight? I fought with Kyuhyun."

"Oh. Do tell." As he tells Junsu the story, he observes his expressions and he could say he's not pleased at all. "You're stupid, and I mean that. How could you shoo him away like that? The guy likes you and you're totally dating. Stop being a stupid jealous boyfriend and make up with him."

“I'm scared, Junsu." he admits, his expression turning a bit gloomy. "What if he finds me annoying and too bratty? What if--"

"Screw those what ifs! You won't know unless you try."

He follows Junsu's advice but somehow, he ends up facing Zhou Mi. "Kui Xian?"

"Kui-who? Look, we don't understand each other but I need to know where Kyuhyun is."

"Ah, Kui Xian." Zhou Mi nods with a smile that almost blinds Hyukjae. "Home. Kui Xian home. Sick."

Well at least those words were helpful. "Do you know where he lives?" He might know it's just five blocks away from his, but he still has no idea where exactly. "Uhm, home. You. After school...home Kyuhyun. Me. Okay?"

For some reason, Zhou Mi understands what he means, and for the first time in his whole life, he's thankful to have met the guy.

-

Hyukjae now believes Zhou Mi is indeed Kyuhyun's best friend. "Is he mad at me?" he questions as he walks beside the Chinese man.

When Zhou Mi shakes his head, he sighs in relief. "A little," but that definitely killed his almost happy mood.

Upon arriving at Kyuhyun's house, Hyukjae wishes Zhou Mi didn't run off, leaving his tense self standing dumbly in front of the doorstep. He musters up all his courage, takes a deep breath and knocks thrice. The door opens revealing a woman which he assumes is Kyuhyun's mother. "Uhm, is Kyuhyun home?"

The woman smiles. "Yes, but I'm afraid he's down with a fever."

"Would you mind if I pay him a little visit? I'm Hyukjae, his friend." Although he's itching to tell her "Hi, you must be Mrs. Cho. I'm Lee Hyukjae, your future son-in-law,it's nice to meet you." he couldn't possibly do that, can he?

"Yes, of course. He's upstairs. I'm glad he found a new friend in no time. You know, he has no friends other than Zhou Mi. I was worried when he was about to transfer schools. Thankfully, Zhou Mi agreed to transfer with him although it got a bit delayed. Fortunately, his mild autism hasn't gotten him into trouble yet."

"Mild autism?" he repeats, completely stunned. "He has...mild autism?"

Mrs. Cho covers her mouth, looking just as stunned as Hyukjae. "Hasn't Zhou Mi told you about it?"

"Uhh...I'm sorry but no, he still hasn't. Am I not supposed to find out about it?"

"If Mimi hasn't said a single thing about it, no you shouldn't. I hope this won't damage your friendship. Kyuhyun doesn't know about his condition and I hope you won't speak a word about it to him."

Hyukjae forces out a smile even if he's too worried about his sick boyfriend. "No worries Mrs. Cho, I won't leave Kyuhyun hanging."

A warm smile spreads across Mrs. Cho's face and she gives Hyukjae an appreciative pat on the back. "Thank you, Hyukjae."

-

"Hey sleepyhead," he greets as he enters Kyuhyun's unusually neat bedroom, trying to forget whatever information he's found out from Mrs. Cho. "I heard you're sick."

"I am." Kyuhyun chokes out before bursting in a coughing fit. "Come here," Hyukjae complies. "I usually don't like to be touched but I hope you don't mind me hugging you."

"No, of course not." he leans down and lets himself get enveloped in a literally very warm and comforting hug. His heart skips a beat, it's the first time they actually hugged and it makes him not want to let go. "You're warm," he admits. "I like it."

"I'm sick, I'm supposed to be warm. And even if I'm not, I'm still warm because, well, I'm a human."

Hyukjae scoffs and pinches his lover's back. "You're ruining the mood, and please don't get all intellectual on me. It doesn't suit you." Kyuhyun moans in response, tightening his hold on Hyukjae who gets comfortable lying on top of his sick boyfriend.

It's amazing how they never got the chance to talk about their previous fight and how they didn't even feel the need to talk about it.

-

Hyukjae notices how Kyuhyun would always shake his feet in a slightly disturbing manner but he would just ignore it, knowing that it's probably a part of his condition. Kyuhyun also has this habit of constantly picking things up and stacking or lining them up. It's a habit not hard to notice but Hyukjae sure took quite some time.

"Do you...often do that?" he asks, really careful not to piss Kyuhyun off.

"Yeah, sure."

"Well, it looks fun."

“What is?”

“Oh. Uhm, nothing.”

-

Hyukjae almost gives Kyuhyun a heart attack when he shows up behind him one time after school. "Any plans?"

"Hmm...I'll be going somewhere with Mimi."

"Where?"

"Just...somewhere."

And Hyukjae doesn't seem so pleased. "You spend too much time with him that with me." he says shamelessly.

"He's my best friend. I don't see anything wrong with it."

"What about me, huh? I'm your boyfriend but you rarely spend time with me. I need attention too, you know. Why do I feel like I'm the only one exerting effort in this relationship? It's as if you don't even want to be with me. Shisus! Kyuhyun, you must know that I--mmph!"

Well, yes, like any other sappy dramas out there, Kyuhyun kisses Hyukjae just to shut him up. He talks too much. And Kyuhyun dislikes people who talk too much, with the exception of Hyukjae, obviously.

"You," Kyuhyun trails off after pulling away, wiping his lips with the sleeve of his uniform. "Are an attention whore." Hyukjae silently agrees. "But I still like you."

He really likes me.
