If you follow me on
Twitter then you know I was struggling with FireFox 3 this morning. I was taking a
Gizmodo break and reading all about this naughty new camera this guy developed when the Flash vid crashed. Now, this has been happening to me for a handful of weeks. And by "this" I mean, I start a Flash vid (YouTube, Google, what have you) and after about 3 secs is stops. It just freezes. Or sometimes, it'll play a bit more but without sound. At first I could clear out my temp files and reboot FF to get it running correctly but today even that wasn't helping. I thought it might be that I had too many tabs going (I generally run around 8 to 20 which translates to around 30% usage - and I tend to start up FF right where I left it each day with multiple tabs reloading each day) but that proved not to be a solution. Popping vids into IE worked just fine. So, as Lloyd theorized, it had to be something to do with the Adobe plugin. I putzed around on the web some and
found a forum post that matched my exact problem. The forum linked to the
Flash10 beta plugin download and once I installed it I was back into the land of yummy FF3 Tabbed Flash lovin'... w00t!
This timed out well because it allowed me to watch the newest video from Dancin' Matt of
Wherethehellismatt.com fame. You might remember Matt from his globe trotting trip where he took vids of himself dancing in various locations. Well, he's posted a new video and I know it makes me sound like a softy (which I am), but I'll admit that the vid really got me smiling and feeling good. I was thinking, wouldn't it be fun to get a bunch of people and do a Flash Mob dance somewherez in San Diego??? Anyhow, check out the vid and Matt's site if you're for it. The FAQ is a great read as he has a good sense of humor and some really surprising tips/info from his journeys. If you go to the main YouTube site you can watch a higher res version to (recommended).
