It's about 85 degrees in my apartment right now. I'm wearing a t-shirt and boxers and sweating like a dog... I just spent the last 45 minutes giving my TV hook-ups another shot and thanks to some tips from
cajuncountry and some know how from
cpratt I was able to finally find a way to get everything to work with the stuff I have. The only bummer is that I can have either the PS2 or the Wii connected but not both because the Tivo needs one of the AV hooks.
Basically I did what Cajun said to do - I ran the cable to the TV using HDMI. I ran the Wii and the Tivo to the TV through the AV 1 and 2 connectors. I then ran the audio from the TV to the Video1 on my receiver/DVD player. Then I ran the component hooks for the DVD player back over to the TV. So now I get full stereo for all my toys and I my DVD player is working. The overall sound/picture quality is better because I'm not running stuff through a bunch of other stuff. The only downside is that if I want a great picture and HD I can't roll with watching cable through the Tivo. The quality is so much lower even if I can pause live TV. I figure down the road I might get an HDTivo but that's not a priority for now. Once GH3 comes out for the Wii I can ace my PS2 off the set-up as well because that's really all I use it for.
Anyhow, nice to have that finally taken care of after having my TV for almost two months!
