A Time Out for Harry Potter Theories...

Ok, yes - I'm in p.town during bear week and it's super woofy etc but somehow I've still managed to finish reading the 6th Harry Potter book, The Half-Blood Prince (for those of you keeping score that's the next movie to be made) for the second time.  I'm did this so I'd be all set for the last book when it comes out this month.  So, having said this - I'm pretty sure I've figured out what is in store for or heroes (at least some of it).  So, here goes.  Some of you might come back with "well duh!" or whatever but I'm gonna lay it down all the same.... If you haven't read Half Blood and don't want spoilers DON'T READ THIS!

First - as most of us have assumed, there is no way Dumbledore is really dead.  The phoenix theme has been in place since the second book and it's clear that the side of good is linked with the phoenix (think Order Of).  In HBprince Harry spots what he thinks to be a phoenix rising from the flames of D's body before it becomes the stone coffin.  So yes, D will be back in the last book.

Also, Snape is not bad.  Snape is actually the closest and most confided in agent in D's army.  You'll recall the scene when Draco is about to kill D.  D has Draco almost talked out of it before the death eaters arrive.  Draco is still hesitant and it's not until Snape arrives that D is killed.  Why is this?  Simple enough - D knows that if Draco goes through with killing him Draco will be lost forever.  So when D says "Severus, please" he's actually asking Snape to kill him as they no doubt had discussed before all the action went down.  D knows he can come back as does Snape and they go through with the plan so Snape can get even deeper in with Voldermort while saving Draco from committing murder.

You'll also notice that Snape doesn't fight back against Harry.  Even as Harry is throwing killing curses Snape just deflects them.  Don't get me wrong, Snape is not a fan of Harry at all. It's clear that Snape hated Harry's dad but it also seems, to me at least, that Harry's dad was a bit of a braggart and a bully.  Anyhow, Snape only reacts when Harry calls him a coward.  As he should - he's given up more than anyone else (beyond harry's mother) in the name of stopping Voldermort and yet he's despised by those he has given up so much to protect.

What I see in the last book is D's return but also the death of Snape.  Not by Harry, but by Voldermort.  Snape will step forward at some point to save Harry, Hermione, or Ron and be killed - but not before Harry finds out the truth of what Snape has been doing all along.  I also think that Draco will have a big turning point (and he began it at the end of Half Blood).

So there ya go - that's where I see it.  What do you think?

And today, without a doubt, was the best day of the vacation so far....
