After an early morning conference call with some of the UK folks (that went pretty well largely in part to my knowledgeable Lead who was able to define some items in a way that finally seemed to get folks to understand a few concepts I had yet to be able to make clear to them) I went back to bed - still pretty worn out...
I woke up a short while later feeling a bit better and went through some work email. Nothing on fire - that's good. Quite a bit of work to do but everything generally under control.
I felt stale and gross so I took a shower and decided to get out of the house by sitting in another "house" for an hour or so. I went out to see "Children of Men".
Folks, here's one of those movies you should not let pass you by. I realize I might be mildly feverish, but I haven't been hit emotionally by a movie like this since I saw Platoon ages ago. While the premise is a stretch, the near-future vision that Cuarón has comes across as entirely too plausible. Uncomfortable and raw. People have likened it to Scott's vision in Blade Runner but kids, this isn't a sci-fi flick. I'm gonna need to digest this one some more. It's funny because I had originally asked Hot Guy if he wanted to see this on Tuesday (before my sickness). His response was that two of his friends had totally hated it and found it to be too confusing and without enough explanation. I actually think Hot Guy would have dug this flick had he seen it and I think it might be a decent litmus test to find out if someone has similar tastes to my own movie-wise (in a general sense of course).
Anyhow, I'm gonna go read some more work email and catch up some. Then it's back to napping. Daddy needs a full night's sleep for work tomorrow.
Oh - I might have to pick up the soundtrack for C of M. A track from the Thom Yorke was in the flick (but not on the disc I see) but the highlights were the really interesting song choices including a great cover of "ruby tuesday" by Franco Battiato
