TVGasm is my hero.

Remember when TVGasm hit the nail on the head about the incredulity of the Izzie/Denny romance? Well, they've done it again. Except this time with my feelings about Extreme Makeover: Home Edition:I hate this show. I mean Ty Pennington. Really? Isn't he like Billy Bush's long-lost, even more annoying brother?Thank you. Now, it's not that I am a callous, unsentimental jackass of a man (well, I might be), but I think this show is all sorts of ridiculous. I do NOT need to spend an hour watching some poor down-on-their-luck family get their lives rebuilt. Don't get me wrong... I think ABC is doing wonderful things for these families that need the money, but does it really need to be televised? I know some of you will say: "Why yes it does. Because without the ratings, there would be no money from the advertisers. And with no money from the advertisers, there would be no home makeovers." To that I say "ABC doesn't really care about poor people. They're just out to make a buck. I mean, they theoretically have plenty of money from their other hits (Housewives, Lost, Grey's) to makeover tons of houses if they really wanted to. Thus, I will not support a show that is really just out there to pat it's own back."And that folks is probably my biggest beef with the show. Not only is Ty Pennington supremely irritating (those Sears commercials, anyone?), but he takes every opportunity to congratulate himself and the ABC team on a job well done and proceeds to point out every little doodad and superfluous novelty in the new home of the family who would have been just as grateful if they had gotten a bathtub with adequate caulking and not had their entire residence razed to the ground and transformed into an elk lodge mansion. Another good point: is it really a makeover if you are rebuilding the entire house from its very foundation? The show should just be renamed Extreme Reconstruction: Home Edition and Ty Pennington Self-Gratuitous Achievement Awareness Anti-Modesty Show, but I guess that just doesn't have the same ring to it.
