If the Da Vinci Code were translated into binary code, it would be a string of 0s since preliminary reviews are giving it only negative reviews. In fact, I have never seen a movie with a
0% rating on rottentomatoes, but there you have it. And if you weren't convinced by the reviews on that page, you can also check out the
reports of audience disapproval at the Cannes screening.
I, for one, am very disappointed by this. Although I think that coupled with his on-stage cursing at the Oscars, Tom Hanks' mullet haircut makes him look like a angry right-wing abortion clinic bomber, I had high hopes for this movie. The book was very poorly written, but I won't lie and say I didn't enjoy it. I read it in two days (a lot of it had to do with the pandering nature of the third-grade level narrative), but there was indeed a page-turner appeal to the book. Despite the meager literary creds, I thought it definitely had potential to be a really good suspense thriller.
Oh wait,
Fox News is giving it a lukewarm review. Maybe it isn't so bad after all!
