First let me say that Livejournal has changed its update crap and I hate it. I had a post going, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be in ljcut form or not and it just ended up disappearing on me.... so I've decided to screw Livejournal Cuts altogether. I mean, noone really uses this anymore, so it's not like I'm destroying someone's friend feed. I'm just gonna do all my entries from now on with no cuts.
Back to Seattle though. While I was there, Jen House, Hollie Fay (I can't spell her last name correctly off the top of my head), Gillian Levine, and I decided to try and go on a chocolate tour. The place was by where we had breakfast, Silence Heart Nest, so we decided to give it a shot. I will say if you go to Seattle and want breakfast, go to Portage Bay, it is so much better. The place was where they make Theo Chocolate, and we go there around 3:00 with the intention of going on their 4:00 tour. We were told that it was full, but we could put our names on a wait list. We did so and hopped to a bar nextdoor to kill some time. We got back to the place around 3:50 and it still seemed like the tour was full. The put in people from the oncall list ahead of us, so it wasn't looking good. Then around 3:58 they told us we could get on it since a party of four hadn't shown up yet. I quickly paid the admission, $6 a person, and we were handed our hair nets. The party of four came in at 4:03 and were told that they showed up too late to make it on the tour. Meanwhile we're all still just standing in the room not doing anything, so they were totally bummed. Be prompt with going on this tour...
This is the waiting area, where you just go around and eat chocolate until you want to puke. I was a fan of their orange chocolate, but they also had a Chai Chocolate and it was awesome. They also had a Ghost Pepper Chocolate, which wasn't available to sample, though Jen did pick up a couple of pieces for gifts.
That girl is so bummed she isn't eating more chocolate. The wrapper on the right, black and yellow, was made for the EMP. I think it had Nirvana on it...
This is the start of the tour, where I decided to get a focused shot on the back of these two people's heads...I guess... This is them talking about the history of chocolate and where it comes from. Passing around stuff and giving us more stuff to eat. The tour lady was like, "You guys want to try some chocolate." and I immediately said, "YES" and no one else replied.... and she was like, "someone is excited..." Why wouldn't anyone else say yes, we're all there for the damn chocolate, instead I look like a fat 4 year old nubbling on anything I can get my hands on...
Look at this group, they all look so bored. I guess to be fair I think I could have done a better tour... probably because I love to eat and I would be all about giving free chocolate away.
Here are my travel companions. I realize this entry is going to suck, because I have no idea what the machines do anymore. I really didn't even try to commit it to memory...
She's saying something that could be important about that bright green machine...
I mean, this isn't even a good picture...
I remember getting truffle samples in this room. They had three different options, and you had to pick only one of them for yourself. It sucked. I want one of each. I had a lemon chocolate thing, but I secretly wanted the fig one, which I stupidly didn't grab. I was bummed..
I had to wear a beard net, this is my just covering my face with it, because I'm dumb...
I guess that's pretty much the tour. I mean I could post more pictures of machines that do stuff, but that just seems pointless.
In the end I'll just say that it's a fun little tour, worth $6, with good chocolates that they let you eat. I mean you could just go to the store, not on the tour, and eat the free samples forever! That's what I'd do....
