A Brief Respite

Peacing out of this town for a day is usually good for the soul. Not that I was completely hating being in DeLand, but after I left here I was immediately in a good mood. And compared to driving home for a few days, Jacksonville's a piece of cake. Not to mention the area where Verb lives reminds me a lot of home pre-Ivan. No wonder he skipped out so much last year... I would have gone home to that, too.

The concert kicked ass. We rolled up to UNF a little early and hung around with Dave for a bit at his LAN party. It also rained a lot. But it stopped before we got to the show, where Dave and his GF peaced out to go to the VIP secion (bastards...) and Verb and I rocked out in the stands. We both agreed that we were old, miserable satchels for not going down and partying like the vast majority of people there did, but we were fine rocking out while sitting down. Dave King, the lead singer, even called us out and dedicated "Devil's Dance Floor" to us.

After that Verb took me to Ginger's, this bar that apparently has this seedy reputation but is actually quite nice on the inside. I guess it's the equivalent of having any bar somewhere in Gulf Breeze... it just doesn't fit from the outside. We certainly didn't have a problem with it, though, and I thought it was going to be much seedier with many loose women. No such luck. We then rolled back to his place and tailgated until 4 in the morning shooting the shit about things ranging the gamut from mildly important to not really important at all.

It was just a nice change of pace. Now that I'm semi-relaxed (although kind of tired) I need to either take a nap and read after that or read now and pass out while reading. We'll see what happens.
