The end of exams is usually marked by me as the beginning of a really crappy week, seeing as how, with a retail job every December for the last three or four years, it has meant that I work nearly every day until Christmas day. This year is no exception, as my last exam ended Friday night, followed by seven days of work in the eight days 'til Christmas (I had Monday off), including an 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. shift tomorrow, 1 to 10 Thursday, and 8 to 5 Christmas Eve. It could be worse, I know, but it could also be better. Thanks to Friday night/Saturday morning shifts, I'll likely be missing the Nordic Beat/Mark Bragg show Friday night.
Plus, a fairly cruddy week was made worse Sunday by Nimh's passing. I got home late from the D&D rumble following work to find her curled up under the hammock. To be honest, I was anticipating this, as Saturday the right side of her body had pretty much shut down, and her only form of mobility was a sad rolling motion. The plan was to bring her into the vet's Monday, but,
once again, the little ratty system just couldn't hold up. I cleaned up her cage, set aside supplies for Amanda's gerbils, got the rest ready for storage, and buried her the next day in the Shadow/Jinx grave. I'm no longer really upset by the death of an elderly pet. Just kind of sad that she was in pain for those last few days.
So, 4 more days of work 'til Christmas. I really, truly can't wait. Not only will it mean, hey, it's Christmas Day, but it'll also be my first real chance to relax since exams.
I need some sleep.
