I'm spending too much money on music. Last week, I found the first QOTSA album at CD Plus, and an old Watchmen album at Trader's; then today, I espied the Trailer Camp CD I turned down in favour of Kuroda on my birthday at the show at The Ship, and at a nice, cheap price, so I picked it up. Finally, HMV finally turned out something of worth - DFA1979's Heads Up. I think I need to ease off of the money for a little while... let the old bank account repair itself after hardcore birthday spending.
Speaking of which, Amanda's gifts included: Gamecube with controller, large memory card, The Simpson's Hit & Run, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, roses, and, of course, the DQ cake. Mmm... Reese and ice cream...
Birthday BBQ went stellar, with plenty of attendees and lots of meat, alcohol, and an ice cream cake that kind of just degnerated into ice cream. Naturally, Amanda burned herself. Happens every time. I won't go through a list, but thanks to everyone who showed up. Saturday night had numerous possible plans, but, due to transportation needs, my options quickly became limited to a) stay at home, or b) go to Ben's. Ben's was great, with plenty of huge Jell-O shooters and cockcakes to go around. Tony, I need to see pictures from that night. So bad.
Today was an emotionally riddled day. I was told last week that I'd have to wait to find out if I had Friday off for Salmon Festival purposes, but that it was almost definite. Then, today, Keith drops the bomb that, paid or unpaid, there is no leave available to students, period. Heinous, no? Two days before I leave, and they finally pull the rug out from under me. Luckily, I disovered that Michael's bus leaves 4:30 Friday afternoon, and that there's still room, so myself and Amanda are safe. Plus, we're saving almost $100 since we're only spending 45 bucks once instead of 70 twice. Actually, thanks to losing Friday's day off, I came out better overall in the end, since I'm now guaranteed a seat, instead of having to line up and hope for the best Friday morning, and I also get to tack on another day's work on my last paycheck (about $100). Doesn't mean I appreciate them leaving this so late, though.
As well, Friday's my last shift, so starting next week, I finally get to discover free time and the real beginning of my summer (spattered, of course, with Pet City shifts). I seriously need to go on a couple of camping trips... or at least get high more often.
