[The feed has been showing a battle for a few minutes now. Roy is challenging Chuck, and his Fearow, Queen, has so far taken out both Chuck's Hitmonlee and his Hitmonchan. Unfortunately, Chuck's Poliwrath used that lovely Mind Reader + DynamicPunch combo to confuse Queen. Roy's response?]

My. It looks like you're as good as I thought you were, Roy. [ and here is the calm compliments of Judith! Roy gets a bit of a wave. ]

It pleases me to hear you consider me at such a level.

[And Judith will receive a polite bow of the head in return.]

Does it? I thought you'd be aware of it. [ yes, yes, more ego stroking. she'll stop soon. though the polite bow of the head does get a bit of a smile from her. ]

I suspected, but it's always nice to receive confirmation, be it military intel or simple praise.

I suppose everyone wants to hear a compliment once in a while. [ unless you're weirder than the usual, which they all kind of were. but compliments are still nice. ] I was surprised to hear you turned down the training, though.

That's not the kind of training I'm into. I prefer using weaponry and alchemy when I fight, not raw strength.

[ and judith is the complete opposite, but something else hits her. ] Alchemy? [ last she heard, that wasn't exactly something you could... fight with. ]

...Oh, I never told you? Back home, I'm an alchemist. It's something that doesn't come up much here, so it tends to slip under the radar.

I've never heard of something like that being used for fighting. [ if johto weren't johto, she'd ask for a display but... it's johto. ]

Oh, believe me, it's quite useful. Alchemists usually have a transmutation circle somewhere -- on their gloves, gauntlets, bare hands -- that lets them transmute objects immediately, though each alchemist has a specialty.

[ transmutation circle? she attributes her easy understanding to the familiarity of that method. ] That sounds like something back home, actually.

Does it?

[Roy can tell from the way Judith says it that it isn't alchemy, though.]

What would that be?

Blastia. [ she pauses for a moment to consider how to explain it, before settling on a simple: ] They utilize a formula to convert aer in our world to useable resources.

So this "aer" is some kind of raw material, then?

In a way. It isn't visible, except in large qualities. [ turning these words over in her head. ] Rita would be better at explaining it than I am.

I'll keep that in mind.

[He sees little point in asking her, though -- it's not like it matters here, anyway.]

I will say, though, I miss being able to perform alchemy, even with alternative means of defense here.
