The beginning of April is for sure my favorite time of year in Busan. It’s still too early for mosquitoes. The weather is just perfect, that precious time when houses and schools require neither heating nor air conditioning, and all that’s required to keep the room at a nice temperature is to leave a window open. But most of all it’s the cherry blossom. It’s a fleeting moment, one that is at its peak for only a week before the petals begin to fall in a flurry of pink tinged snow. So I try and make the most of it every year. Today and yesterday morning I went for a walk along my usual Hwangyeongsan trail, and took far more photos than necessary. Enjoy!
Talking of beautiful but fleeting things, there’s a newly opened café literally three minutes’ walk from our apartment that showcases local artists. It could have been opened with my wife in mind! She saw one of her artist friends walking out a few weeks ago and he put her in touch with the owner. Before long she had her own three-week long exhibition with the café displaying over fifty of her paintings! So far all is going smoothly, and I dropped by with my manager and new fellow foreign teacher today after we’d all attended our coworkers wedding. My manager even bought a small painting!
