Disney Plus reviews - Part 2

Back for another round of lazy ass short reviews of stuff I watched on Disney Plus.

The little mermaid - Is it OK to fancy mermaids? They’re half human. The top half, which is the most important half. Now if it were the other way round it would be weird. Halle Bailey makes a fit mermaid.

Ahsoka - Top notch in terms of character design and special effects, though it took a while for the story to interest me. Andor is still the best Star Wars TV show for me. That’s the only one that had real emotional punch.
There’s plenty of light sabre battles filled with all manner of flips, posing and pausing with weapons clashed to deliver dialogue. It all looks very pretty, but not once did I believe these characters were trying to kill each other. Count the number of times the combatants twirl round for no reason whatsoever. I’m no swordplay expert, but I’m sure it’s a bad idea to turn your back on your opponent in any swordfight, even one using magical laser swords!

Secret Invasion - (TOTAL SPOILER) Going for more spy thriller vibes than most MCU projects. I was not expecting Nick Fury to be married to a shape shifting alien. So it ends with Samuel Jackson snogging a green pointy eared alien. A brave choice for sure. The “Russian tanks massing on the Ukrainian border” line did not age well, or perhaps too well.

What if - I don’t usually go in for the animated MCU/Star Wars stuff but this was pretty decent. The animation very much captures the feel of the live action characters and a lot of the original actors return to do the voices.
