Television and newspapers spread the wrong news late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning stating that the 13 trapped coal miners in West Virginia had been found alive and safe with only one dead. Just hours later the stories had to be reversed to 12 dead, one survivor. The media have blamed their disgraceful performance on a “miscommunication” mix-up/confusion/blunder/fuck-up. Media outlets had reported the news without proper sourcing and verification.
It's a horrible situation for the loved ones of the miners. How very fucked up.
