Aaahhh relief from the LJ-withdrawal symptoms!! I was writing things for my LJ in my head even more than usual.
We saw a film!!!! Not been to the cinema in ages. We saw Horrible Bosses. It was very funny.
I did have one problem with it though - a running joke through it was a (male) character being sexually assaulted and harrassed by his (female) boss. I don't feel like that kinda thing should be funny. Not only would it be very unpleasant for the man, but i imagine it would reinforce the idea that men can't be raped by other men, and so on. If it was a male boss sexually assaulting and harrassing a female employee then there'd be no WAY it would be funny - though that is different because there's more of an abuse of power when it's that way around - it's still fundamentally sexist.
And I've read a book - Gok Wan's autobiography Through Thick and Thin. It wasn't a really enjoyable read as such, but it was interesting to see where he came from. It seems like a lot of his success was simply a result of him blagging his way around places - charming people and telling white lies to make him seem like he knew what he was doing - a skill i wish i had!
Simon and I seem to spend every weekend now looking after Trixie, as Simon's parents have a much more exciting social life than we do.... depressing. But still, Trixie makes up for it (even when she does wake me up at 5:30am, or bury my sandals in the garden) by way of epic levels of cuteness.
