Loooong day yesterday. Met Eva at 11am in Tomkins Square Park to shoot an interview for Hi!Drama promoting Suckers. She also asked if I was doing something in the MITF this year, and I mentioned that I would be acting in I Hate Love, and explained what it was about. She said, "Oh good, I love it when people do something with Shakespeare to make it interesting, instead of what it usually is, which is BORING". I couldn't help myself, and did a take to the camera. We'll see if that stays in.
After that I had some time to kill and I was near Halloween Adventure, so I picked up stage blood and blood capsules (I have to fill them myself! Eyedropper?), as well as some spiders. English was clearly not the first language of the young lady helping me, and she kept asking if I wanted "nets" to go with my spiders. I had no idea what she was talking about till I realized she meant "webs".
Then met Arol in the Starbucks attached to his office building, where he gave me the 6 copies of Ore, or Or that he'd printed out for me for my Pulitzer application. It's convenient to have someone with a job who has access to the printer. Sat and had coffee for half an hour with him, then went home and crashed for an hour or so. Then headed downtown to Suckers rehearsal.
Got to 440 Studios much sooner than I expected, so I went and paid for the space, then went to Kmart and picked up some new shorts for very cheap. I've gotten too fat for my old shorts, but the new ones are nice. 440 studios has lovely rehearsal spaces, and with the festival discount, they're only a scotch more expensive than Where Eagles Dare. They're really on the ball there- gave me a printed receipt and contract I had to sign before we could go in.
Rehearsal was great- mostly stage combat with Chris. Everyone just loved him, and was very impressed with his work. There's going to be some kickass fights in this piece. Just wait'll you see mollyx. Whoooo.
mollyx and Katherine came out to Marie's with me for a bit afterward. It was Phanat's going-away party, and I'd said I'd be there. He's going to Thailand to teach English, so Jim said we'd be doing all of King and I. I guess we missed that part. Sang "Our Private World" for him, since that's his favorite. Had a nice time, and went home early, since the place was crazy-packed. Did flirt with a cute boy named Daniel, who's new in town.
