I just want you to be happy

Spent yesterday at the theatre with dry_2olives, seeing ALL the Norman plays- pretty amazing work, both in the writing and the acting. Having seen the 3rd already, I knew some of what happened already, but really I had NO IDEA some of the other stuff that went on. I feel challenged to write something that freakin' epic- not like I'm not in the middle of writing some 5-6 other plays right now. I should finish something.

I would like some more Ayckbourn- he seems to be quite on my wavelength when it comes to experimental theatre structuring- though I'm afraid I just missed HTE's Comic Potential, which I hadn't realized till today was also Ayckbourn. Ah well, I know I have A Chorus of Disapproval somewhere.

Between shows 1 and 2, I headed down to the rehearsal space for Get S.O.M, and dropped off Star Trek costumes for Ore, or Or. fishmonger19 was working the desk, so we got to say hi a bit. Tried to stop for a meat pie at Tuck Shop, but I didn't have any cash and they have a $15 minimum, and much as I love meat pies, I can't eat three, and shouldn't spend that much money on lunch. Booo.

Sue Berch was at the theater for the 3rd show- I thought it was her, then I didn't think it was her, then when she crossed right in front of us to check out the diorama*, I called her name, and it was her after all. Had a nice chat.

They were selling the script at the theater (I wondered why so many people in the audience happened to have it- I haven't seen cross-checking of that nature outside Shakespeare- but then I realized they were for sale); I was tempted, but $20. And, as dry_2olives pointed out, likely $15 at Drama Book Shop. And as I pointed out, likely free at the library.

On the subway home ran into Eric, on his way home from Squiggy and the Goldfish rehearsals (have I mentioned he's playing one of the titular roles?). His subway car literally pulled up right in front of me; I came hopping on and startled him a bit, but he was glad to see me. We haven't seen each other in a while, and so we both got to catch up and vent a bit.
Eric says they've been papering Norman Conquests, which is a shame and a half.

So hot when I got home, I made iced coffee. Put together a very basic website for Playwrighting Group; we've had the website for ages, but nothing of import has really been there.

* I was quite giddy by the 3rd play and was making Phantom of the Opera jokes about it, how the Phantom would drop the diorama onto the set if they didn't cast Christine Daaé as Sarah.
