So...
- Got e-mail from kid who wants to direct The Wastes of Time. He's convinced his producer to do the show as-is. May 27-31 for a preliminary run, and then hopefully in the Fringe. "He will need to meet you in person to confirm that you are giving us the right to put on the play, and will not pull the rights at any time leading up to, or during the scheduled performances."
Odd sentence. I said I'd be glad to work up some contracts for it, and bring them when I meet the guy next week. Thank goodness Mike Roderick gave us a bunch of contract boilerplate to look at for the Get S.O.M. festival. I'm wary. - Most likely will be doing my 10-minute play What I Like in the Where Eagles Dare festival middle of May (I sent Chatterton 2 plays, and he REALLY likes that one). I was thinking, if it happened, that I would have to get someone else to direct, since I'll be busy with Ore, or Or, and then on the way down to Mom's this weekend, alexlady asked if I needed a director for anything, since she wants to beef up her resume in that department. Serendipity, baby!
- Jonathan Wallace may be doing Hold Thy Peace, Thou Knave as part of his series of short plays in the Midtown(!). More to come on that
- Tony asked me to design his new postcard to send to agents.
- I've been very frazzled on the reviewing front lately- my last 2 reviews (Beowulf and Mrs. Warren's Profession) were 2 weeks after I saw the show instead of 2 days at the most, which is my usual. Taking a couple of months off from reviewing. Might still go review the Flux Ensemble piece, but that would be the absolute last one I can fit in.
- The Theatre of the Small-Eyed Bear website is up. I'm frankly not impressed with the design- I think it looks clunky and some of the links are in strange places.
You can get $10 early-bird tickets for any of the shows with the code NOW05 (marked down from $12). Not sure how long that will last. It's actually probably a better value to pay the $25 for all three shows, if they all interest you.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20): "I'm having a very good crisis," financier George Soros said recently. The global economic turmoil that has brought such stress for so many other people has earned him millions of dollars. That's no accident: A couple of years ago, Soros foresaw the approaching upheaval and made a raft of smart adjustments in anticipation. I predict that you will have your own very good crisis in the next few weeks, Gemini -- especially if you set aside some time now to plan all the ways you might be able to capitalize on the upcoming challenges.
