I have decided that I will audition for paid theatre jobs now (because that would compile job into acting, thereby making me only juggle jobacting and playwrighting. Recently applied for a production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, in Brooklyn. It's been a lifelong dream (or at least since High School) of mine to play Rosencrantz. Also they're doing Hamlet in rep, and actors would be cast in both.
Just got an e-mail to set up audition appointments (on the 9th), and I know 4 of the other people who received the e-mail (including
fishmonger19 (whose play I'm seeing later this week, btw), and Chris Cariker). The show would be in July, which would mean, if cast, I would be rehearsing while Suckers was happening. Since I'll be rehearsing Suckers while Ore, or Or is happening, that would mean a busy Spring/Summer. Would probably mean finding a different director for Suckers. ...But there's no point in counting my rosens before they're crantzed.
My Reviews of:
Tomorrow (Tuesday), Working Man's Clothes (a company whose work I enjoy) is doing a reading of a play written by Daniel Kitrosser (an actor I enjoy), starring Ben Beckley (another actor I enjoy) as a homo (a sexual orientation I enjoy). I am so there. Only $5, if anyone wants to come with.
Friday night went to see
The American Plan, which I liked very much. Ran into Gregg and his partner (! didn't know he had one) afterward- they liked the play too. They were debating one of the acting choices, and I pointed out that it's specified in the script.
Was walking back to the subway past Speed-The-Plow and noticed they have new photos of William H. Macy up already, wasn't watching where I was going and nearly bumped into Fred Armisen (who just that morning I was informed
is engaged to Elisabeth Moss who's the playing the girl part in S-t-P). Nodded at him and went my way.
Saturday wasted most of the day, ordered Chinese Food (mmm) then saw Caesar and Cleopatra. Wrote my overdue reviews.
Sunday drank lots of coffee and got a lot of writing done, polishes of Ore, or Or and Suckers, rewrote a little more of Dandelion.
Also watched the pilot episode of United States of Tara, which is free on the Showtime website. Interesting. Toni Collette can do anything she wants.
Got a paper cut on my finger from a sugar packet. Ow.
Radiator is VERY LOUD lately. Strange dreams of people knocking on doors.
