Clumsy Day

Dec 21, 2008 08:46

Completely forgot that Jean (Ken's girlfriend) gave us all clementines as we were leaving the Christmas party. ...until I smelled something funny and found hideously moldy clementines in my bag from the party. EW.

Then, went to get coffee at the nearby bodega. Got a large instead of my quotidian small. Got home and realized there wasn't enough room for my coffee on my computer desk. Put the coffee on the chair. Cleaned off the desk. SAT ON THE COFFEE. Facepalm. Fortunately, the resulting explosion of coffee only reduced it by half, so I poured the remainder that was not on my buttocks/chair into a coffee cup; glad I got a large, the amount I had left was about what I usually drink.

My "America Runs on Duncan" LJ icon seems to have been replaced by Jim Carrey in a tutu.

Rest of the day went better- went to the last workshop reading of Ore, or Or, which went well, though main actor was much more stumbly over the lines than he had been, so any scene with him in it tended to drag, and the pacing was off (though it picked up by the end). Got some ideas for edits I think I should make, just to clean up moments here and there.
Good audience, though- dry_2olives, namfle, Patricia, Justin (from the TotE party), and a bunch of people I didn't even know! Audience seemed to like it, especially the Star Trek geekout and the final scene with Calvin and Debbie.

As I suspected, Jesse from TotE has an LJ too! oldsilenus. Google Alerts told me someone had posted something with my name, and it turned out to be a listing for Ore, or Or, on his LJ. Accidentally called Jesse "Isaac" when introducing him to Patricia. No idea where that came from.

After the show, walked down the street to Luke's birthday party. It was fun. There was lots of mulled wine, great bean dip, a nice cake. Luke was thrilled to see me and kept introducing me as the awesome playwright who wrote the last two shows he was in (including to a hot (but straighty-straight) actor named Eric, who Luke said would be good in my plays). Lino (Luke's boyfriend) said he'd thought of me the other day when he saw The Tingler, and thought it would be good for Ridiculous style.
Luke and Lino have a new roommate, a girl with an awesomely adorable black pug puppy named Theo.
Luke had gift bags for everyone, which had bizarre things in them. Everyone got condoms from Amsterdam "European condoms, none of this NYC Condom bullshit", and something silly, which we were allowed to trade. I got a toy army plane, which I traded for deodorant (which I needed anyway, having just run out). There was a piñata (hand-made by a friend of his), which was crazy-awesome. Luke nearly killed people swinging his stick around. A girl from Russia at the party had never seen a real piñata- "I always see these in the American films, yes? You hit them with a stick! What, you think we have these in Russia?" Luke and I thought it was fascinating that she associated piñatas with America, rather than Mexico.

At 9:30 or so, everyone headed to Bryant park for ice skating. I was planning to go and not skate, but when I got there it was really crowded and the tired was beginning to set in, so I went home.

Woke up this morning with a great idea on how to end the first scene of The Empress of Sex. Now I just have to figure out what happens in scene II.

Planning to go to DeBaun for the final performance of A Christmas Carol today, if it isn't cancelled due to bad weather.
