Blood Brothers Present... The Master of Horror review The biological father of Madonna's adopted son said his boy might be "better off" with him in Malawi now that the Material Mom is headed for Splitsville. He has moved into a thatched hut with his new wife, Flora, her 3-year-old daughter, Tiyamike, and their 7-month-old son, Dingiswayo - David's half- brother.
"I have the joy of a new family and I even have a new son," Banda said. "But now, when I think of David in danger of living outside a family life, I find it unbearable."
Am feeling much more relaxed about my computer hard drive thing. Mom offered to get me Best Buy tech support to get stuff off my hard drive and onto the new one (once it comes) as my Christmas present. I suspect I have friends who instead will know how to do this for free or pizza- I remember
planga moved all my stuff from one computer to the new one back in the day, so perhaps, if his technology is not fire-and-water-damaged, he still has that power.
Saw more theatre this weekend- Twelfth Night with Eric (which it didn't occur to me till we were watching Toby and Andrew that we had played Toby and Andrew together). Warning outside the theater was "This production contains fog, strobe lights and poetic language". Um, Prince Trevor, much?
Review later, but let me just say that Twelfth Night doesn't need to be three hours- I don't care how pretty the costumes are.
Then Sunday met
dry_2olives for the
"Broadway Originals" concert at Town Hall. Highly enjoyable. Most all the performers were fantastic. D'Jamin Bartlett can indeed still sing the shit out of "The Miller's Son". Terri White did "Thank God I'm Old".
Met Matthew, another reviewer who was sitting in front of us.
Went to the less-fancy after party with
dry_2olives and Matthew and chowed down on pulled pork sandwiches and chicken fingers from Spanky's.
At one point I was talking about the 12th Night from the night before, and said, "Well, the Feste was hot, had a little goatée", which confused Matthew, whod' assumed I was speaking of a woman. He then laid down his heterosexual bona fides, just so there would be no confusion.
dry_2olives and he were saying they should get together with
westernactor and have a "Date a straight theatre critic" reality TV show.
Met the guy in charge of BroadwayWorld video. He gave me his card.
Then went to see Illyria. Show was several blocks farther west than I'd thought, so I was nearly late.
kellygirlnyc,
ceebeegee and Ryan were in the audience, too! It was a very entertaining show. Jimmy Ray Bennett, who was in
Sympathy Jones and
The Nuclear Family, owned the stage as Malvolio. Everyone else was very good, too. Theater was far too warm.
Texted Tony that Jimmy Ray was in the show, and he said to say hi, so I did. Nice fella.
Also said hello to
John Mervini, (who plays a guard/understudy), who I saw in
Under Milk Wood. Our conversation:
Me: Dude! I saw you in Under Milk Wood!
Him: Whoa, shut up!
Me: I was all, 'Dude, it's that guy!" You're awesome!
Him: Wow, thanks!
Me: ...yeah, so I gotta go.
Went out with
ceebeegee, Ryan, and his friend Mitch (who played Sebastian), and met up with Tony at DTM Lounge, where we discovered that Kevin is now the Chef (Which I knew, but had forgotten). We were cordial. He comped me my drink, which was nice. He's lost tons of weight for that Informercial he's doing- says it's changed his life.
