My MyLJ page is all screwy. Hope it gets fixed soon.
Last night I picked up my signed In The Heights poster for the benefit. It was in a cardboard sheath, but difficult to carry around in the wind. Met up with Tony briefly, and basically walked him from home to work. We got to catch up, that was nice.
On the way back to the train, I passed by Sardi's, and heard someone outside say, "Ah, but they had voices then!" It was so reverse-Swanson, I nearly did a double-take.
Got home and had dinner. My leftover risotto, some corn and a George Foreman Grill'd piece of chicken. Mmmm. Finshed Michael Tolliver Lives- liked it a lot. Got all choked up- damn, I love that man's writing. Tales of the City is the only book (series, whatever) that's made me gasp out loud.
Then watched the first episode of
Fame, which I just discovered is on
Hulu.com. Man, what a good show, or maybe it just speaks to me. I watched it religiously when I was a kid, but now don't remember much of it aside from Debbie Allen, the Wizard of Oz episode, and my mom having a talk with me after a Very Special Episode (which now I don't even remember what made it so special).
Little baby Fran Drescher in the first episode, singing "My Lucky Star" and being a bitch.
Also, middle of the show I paused it to look at the imdb page, and noticed Jasmine Guy was an uncredited dancer in a few of the episodes, and then turned the show back on and there she was in a closeup during a sequence in dance class.
Michael Cerveris apparently had a recurring role at some point.
Show actually holds up pretty well. Plan to watch more of it.
Funny Girl: Look, I don't have a crush, people get crushes back in [square state].
Naive Girl: Well, what do people get in New York?
Funny Guy: Herpes, mostly.
AWESOME. I know I didn't get that joke back in the day.
Practiced uke, read the first chapter of Middlesex, and went to sleep.
Getting off work at 3 today! w00t!
