Did that really just happen?

Today appears to be a bring-in-the-kids day at Media Conglomerate. Surprising to see some of these people carrying around rugrats. Also some spouses (spice?).

Heard about this guy, who got kicked out of some sporting event, on TV this morning- they didn't mention he was cute.

Last night actress_in_nyc, Elana and I tried to go see alexlady's show. We went to eat beforehand at Silver Spurs (I had a colossal "Crazy Horse" burger (on the burger: Monterey Jack, chorizo, salsa, and 2 jalapeños. Mmmm.). Elana met briefly with Mike Roderick to get some Small Pond producing stuff out of the way- we got to the church/theater half an hour beforehand, only to discover that they were oversold by 20 people and there were already 20 people on the waiting list ahead of us.
We didn't get in, though we did have an entertaining time looking at all the headshots on the walls. I've seen that Joe Jackson headshot somewhere before- maybe he was in something I reviewed? Maybe he sent in a headshot to audition for something?
Addendum: AHA! He was one of the hottie nearly-naked guys in The Brain From Planet X!!
The box office dude had a pink paisley silk scarf and was very bitchy to several people.

actress_in_nyc was sleepy and went home, and I took Elana to Marie's Crisis for her first time. It was Tuesday, so Jack was there; I've decided Jack is like Jesus- I usually dig his work, but I don't care for a lot of his fans. Elana and I took a table; we ended up talking to John McWhorter most of the happy hour. John and Elana got on famously. Had a good time.
Elana didn't know most of the songs Jack played. He played "Popular"- she said, "Legally Blonde?". Good guess.
Jack was very rude to some woman who wanted to hear classic show tunes.

Ben! showed up. Crazy. Perhaps it's just as well actress_in_nyc didn't come along.

Franca came on board and things got a little better; I did manage to get a seat at the piano through cunning and guile. Elana finally got to sing some songs she knew. I did "Lost in the Wilderness". Elana eventually headed out, and I stayed just a little bit longer.

LJ, a semi-regular, sang "Someone to Fall Back On", which he usually sings- I can't stand that song. I was just shocked to discover that it's by the usually-not-so-crappy Jason Robert Brown.

Trains were stupid on the way home- they're doing the shuttle bus thing again. I managed to pick up the B26 bus instead, which is the one I usually take home from Elana's, which drops me 2 blocks from my house, instead of the shuttle bus, which would drop me at the Subway stop 6 blocks away.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): How do you numb your pain, Gemini? In 2008, I suggest that you do that less than you ever have before. Instead, launch a fierce, relentless campaign to heal the pain so that you no longer have to numb it. The astrological omens say that if you establish that as your intention, you will attract into your life the helpers and inspiration you need to make it happen. More than that: You'll be likely to generate the kind of good fortune that will render at least some of the pain obsolete.
