There's this newish Taco Bell Commercial that's been puzzling me.
In it, a fellow is giving a younger man his advice on life:
- Real Men don't have lap dogs.
- Never date a woman with a snake tattoo, and
- Always- always get chili on your nachos bel grande.
And then a woman with a snake tattoo drops a dog in his lap and tells him to walk his dog. Devo's "Whip it" plays, emphasizing the phrase "Crack that Whip!".
So, he doesn't follow the first two rules- can we disregard the third?
The song implies that he is "whipped" by the woman with the snake tattoo (an excellent reason for rule number 2, if we can assume that all snake-tattooed women will be able to weild their power so tyrannically), but her words imply that the dog belonged to him anyway (evidence that he is not a "real man", whatever that means -perhaps he is more susceptible to "whipping" than most men?).
And what does any of this have to do with nachos? Do we follow this milquetoast's advice? No, we do not.
