Snow Ball

Had a great time at The Snow Ball. I showed up around 8, approximately when things were supposed to start jumping.

There was lots of awesome food, and the place was decorated very nicely:

They'd put a screen in front of the stage, and projected animated falling stars most of the night. It was very pretty.

Reggie Cabico hosted the night, and was very funny.
Maeve said I should hit on him, but he was kind of crazy. He did Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, which I think was in the MITF the year we did Apathy.

Everyone was dressed to the nines, including:

Sean and Bonnie

Christine

Jack

Jason (The Survivor) and Megan the Vegan (Lady Mulligan)

Chris (Casanova)

Kathleen (old, toothless whore Rosita) (rather inappropriately cast in the role, since she's young, hawt, and has all her teeth)

Roland (Sancho Panza and A. Ratt) and his woman, who were covered in glitter and snowflakes.

Maeve (our SM) Love the Tiara!

I'm told I looked awesome, too, but I have no photographic evidence. I may be in other people's pictures.

The food was awesome, provided by Light Horse Tavern, LITM and Bar Majestic.
There was lots of Champagne (Verdi Spumanti- not actually champagne, but I liked it better), lots of cognac, and Fernet Branca.

Music was great- for the early part of the evening was a jazz duo, including upright bass player Joe, who looks like Joe from Blues Clues grown up:

The second half of the night's music was a DJ, who rocked my world with everything from a French cover of "These Boots Are Made for Walking", James Brown to Human League to Madonna's "Hung Up", to The Cure ("Close to Me"- I love that song).

Danced some with Sean and Bonnie and Bonnie's sister.

Met a woman named Dana, who came only because of the posters up in Jersey City. She told me she was apprehensive about the experimental theatre that was mentioned on the posters. I assured her that they'd planned to do a scene from Camino Real, but decided, in the end, not to do that. She was with a nice man named Frank. Once I established that I was an actor in Camino Real, Dana referenced the Coarse Acting book, which I love.

It was nice hanging with a lot of the Camino Real cast. Spent a lot of time with Jason, who was hilarious, and who got very drunk and hit on Christine's sister (not that you'd need to be drunk for that, she's hot). Because of the fragmented nature of a lot of the scenes, I haven't seen some of the actors since the first table read, e.g. Juliet (Esmeralda), who had a mutual admiration society with me.

Jason warned me to stay away from the Fernet Branca, saying it tasted like cough syrup, but later a gregarious fratboy insisted that I try some. It was interesting- I was told by GsFB that it's supposed to mimic the effects of Absinthe, but I didn't feel my heart grow any fonder. Then even later Megan told me that GsFB was kind of an asshole, who was involved in some sort of "homophobic incident" with a friend of hers, and now GsFB is persona non grata in her circles.

Everyone there was very nice; a bunch of people remarked on how cool everyone was. Most of the silent auction stuff went for lots of money. I was tempted to bid initially just to drive up the price, but didn't want to get stuck paying for, e.g., a trip for 2 to a bed-and-breakfast in Connecticut.

Eventually, most of the food was gone:

I had some of that cheesecake, but someone spilled some of my champagne on it as I was cutting it. It was still pretty tasty.

and things got a little looser:

Eventually the evening started winding down, and there were shadow puppets on the back screen and other silliness. A friend of Bill and Jen's I'd never met before came up to me while I was talking to them, and gave me a hug. He let me go and said, "Much love. That's all".
Chris said later that someone had offered him extasy, which might have explained this behavior.

Ended up with a free bottle of the Verdi Spumante, which I took home. Mmmm. Gotta find a special occasion for that.

Also got a gift bag, which they'd said we wouldn't get if we had free tickets, but I guess they had enough. Got a Fernet-Branca baseball cap, some lip balm, white pear tea, some perfume samples, and some guide books to Jersey City. Neat!

Chris gave me and The Gypsy a lift back into the city, which was super-convenient. Dropped us off at 14th and 8th, which was perfect for both of us.
