I need to see that movie again. Or at least listen to the soundtrack.

My check from the MITF came yesterday! Yay! ...but since I won't get my jury duty money till they mail that to me, I won't get new Converse yet. Boo!

Made some edits to Thyme of the Season last night. Took out a little, put in some more. Of course, earlier in the day, I'd sent out what was then the latest version to some folks to read. I am SMRT.

The Ukulele Cabaret is this Saturday, if anyone would like to come. planga is in the first show, which is 7-9pm, I'm in the second, which is 9-11pm. It's free, at Jimmy's No.43 - East 7th Street, New York.
Have been thinking of nautical songs I can sing (the second show has a nautical/drowning/shipwreck theme), and just realized yesterday that I've been singing "Calypso" for ages now, which would be entirely appropriate. Will probably also do "We Kiss in a Shadow", which is not nautical, but is awesome on the uke.
I'd been practicing "Tomorrow Belongs to Me" (with 2 key changes!), but I think I'll save that for another time- it can hardly compete with "Calypso", which has yodeling.

I think I'm going to skip out on Neil Gaiman speaking at FIT tonight. It's sure to be ultra-crowded, and I'm not sure if the pleasure of his (admittedly lovely) voice is enough to make up for that annoyance. Plus, if I stay late at work to make up time, I'm sure to get a bad seat, if I get one at all. I'll probably just go to Marie's. Maybe I'll take the opportunity of early happy hour, when there's no one there, to tell Jim Allen he's been playing one of the chords in "Magic to Do" wrong since I've known him.

Discovered that my CD of Don't Stop the Carnival is actually an enhanced CD with "behind the scenes video". I think I knew that when I got it, but that portion wouldn't work on my old computer. Tried it this morning, and it does work, but it's "behind the scenes" of recording the album; there's no footage of the show itself, which was what I really wanted to see. Jimmy also plays an acoustic version of a short song from the show which didn't make it on to the album (which was apparently Wouk's favorite, and he was disappointed).

Also discovered that "Into the Weeds", a cabaret show that had (has?) our Demetrius in it is a revue of the songs of Bill Weeden! He auditioned for As You Like It, got cast, but then had to drop out. He's awesome. It's apparently playing indefinitely at the West Bank Café at 11pm on Saturdays.
