Breeze off the Lizard

There's a SongFight live concert in California tonight, and one of the other Songfighters asked, a couple of months ago, if he could do a cover of my  (Level Nivelo) "Covered in Bugs".  I said sure.
He just E-mailed me to say it probably wouldn't happen, since he got allotted less time than he expected, but he'd send me an MP3 of a rehearsal.

Very excited about Midsummer today.  Just picked up MoonSunblock.

Yesterday I met up with
carasol to see a Fringe show called "Lizardskin", which was good but had a downer ending.  One of the boys in it was super-pretty, and though I usually don't like fey young blond boys with incredible abs*, somehow he made it work.

carasol and I went to Chat 'n' Chew for yummy dinner after, then killed some time at Virgin Megastore, where they're having the $10 movie thing- I tried to find a copy of the I Heart Huckabees with the deleted scenes and extra special features, but the guy behind the counter said they only had one copy in the store, he didn't know where it was, and it might not even still be there since their computer records are only updated once a week.  I looked through all the Huckabees I could find, but didn't find it.

Then I went to see Crefeld's show, Breeze off the River.  It was ok.  It was about a guy whose wife leaves him and his kid, so he moves in with his Gay friend.  The script was a C, the acting was a B, Cref shirtless was an A+.
My favorite part was 2 scenes where it was early morning, and they were watching TV:

1 (when they first move in)- Gay guy comes in, turns on Lifetime, goes to get dressed.  Straight guy comes in, switches to CNN, goes to get dressed.  Kid comes in, switches to Dora the Explorer, flomps on couch.  Adults come back in, appalled.

2 (after they've lived together a while)- Gay guy comes in, turns on Will and Grace, and appalled ("Uh-uh, not on my watch"), switches it to CNN, and goes to get dressed.  Straight guy comes in, switches to Will and Grace** ("I love Jack!"), goes to get dressed.  Kid comes in, switches to Spongebob, adults come in and sing along with theme song.

Cref's son actually played his son, which was neat.  He's not a bad little actor.

The rest of the play was somewhat heavy-handed, but had some nice moments.  Of course, the homos all cater to the needs of the straights, like we selfless, sexless angels do.
Poor Cref had to say the titular line.

Talked to him briefly afterward, and he was upset that he'd missed The Wastes of Time (we were sold out).
I complimented him on his shirtlessness.
He said, "yeah, they said it was a gay play, so we had to have someone with his shirt off".
I said, "I hear that- I was hoping for an ass shot."
He said, grudingly, but pleased, "I'm gonna have my pants down the next time I do one of your shows, huh?"
I said, "Hey, Prince Trevor..."

And, speaking of on-stage nudity, he asked after
ceebeegee, which led to talk of Midsummer - he's gonna try to come.

* I generally prefer butch experienced dark-haired men.
** the episode where Jack takes Karen's job.

fringenyc, theatre, hotties, songfight, midsummer, prince trevor, wastes of time
