A couple of weeks ago, I found
Brewster's Millions on DVD for $10. I hadn't seen it in ages, but remembered really liking it as a kid.
Mickey and I watched it Sunday night when we realized there was no Simpsons on.
It's still a pretty funny movie. It's aparently the 7th Film adaptation of the original story (the first was with
Fatty Arbuckle in 1921). I think we're about due for a new one. Perhaps with Matt Damon.
Tovah Feldshuh rocks my world. I remembered her character, but didn't realize that was her. She's brilliant.
I'm glad there aren't unnecessary Yakov Smirnoff cameos-with-"what a country!" in movies anymore.
A lot of the backing music was so generic 80s it hurt my ears. Slap bass and synth. Mickey and I started making up generic lyrics to sing during the montages- "We're spending money in the 80s, we're spending money in the 80s!".
The ending was strange, since I kept expecting Stephen Collins to whip off his glasses and reveal that he was actually an FBI agent, when of course that's what he does in
Jumpin' Jack Flash. I had my Stephen Collins 80s movies mixed up.
There was also no "button" at the end of the film. It just ends rather abruptly after Monty wins; there's no celebration scene. It's just suddenly the credits over the Manhattan skyline. Weird.
