I have noticed that many people don't actually know the difference between tailored clothing, and made to measure clothing. As the son of a master tailor, I have to admit I do find myself twitching when I hear the terms exchanged and used wrongly, so much like the informative post I made last month on caffeine, I shall make another about this

Of course for him the flirting had been harmless though he had a feeling he was in trouble with a certain young Welshman. Thus, he was doing his version of penance in the form of laundry.
To be precise he was doing Ianto and Kyle's shirts, which he was now settling in to put a fine iron on.
You did not get through two world wars in the RAF without knowing how to put a knife crease into pants and make a collar stand at attention.

That didn't mean he couldn't make Jack think he was in trouble.
To see what would happen, Ianto made sure to walk past Jack on his way to the next room without saying a thing to the older man.

He grinned a little to himself as Ianto very pointedly ignored him and calmly reached for the next shirt. Doing shirts was his apology, he wasn't going to grovel.

A drink of milk for Ianto, then he wandered back.

Very deliberate ironing, exactly the way Ianto liked his shirts and exactly the way Kyle liked his shirts.
Thus, apology.

And anyway, Ianto wanted to make himself a coffee. Kopi Luwak coffee, anyone?
No, he wasn't kidding this time, he's actually managed to source the beans.
But he could be civil while he was pretending to be annoyed. "So, how did the date with Miss Uhura go?"

"Regrettably the lady was immune to my charms," Jack said with a wistful sigh as he deftly hung up a shirt and reached for the next. "And thus I was woefully dateless. Left to fed peanut butter out of a jar for myself."
Reply
Very nicely.
"Poor woefully alone you," Ianto agreed, tipping the beans into the grinder.

Don't think he saw just how many beans went in there, Mr. Jones. Still not going to grovel. After all, Ianto knew Jack was impossible when he started to date him.

And yes, he knew exactly what Jack was like.
"My guess is there's no peanut butter left?"

Besides, lewd things to the banana.
It was a delicious scent and Jack paused to take an appreciative wiff but held his ground, picking up the next shirt instead.

"You'll have to tell me how many of each I need to put on the shopping list," Ianto said as he put a filter in the machine and filled it with grinds. Enough for much more than one cup, but what was there to say that Ianto didn't want more than one cup?
...despite the fact he didn't.

"I'll make sure to add them to the list," Jack said agreeably and then settled in to hum and iron.
Nope, not gonna ask!

Coffee took it's time to brew. So Ianto had some time to do... nothing. Which if he was pretending to be annoyed at Jack, well, that would be difficult to uphold.
Sneaking a look at Jack, he had to turn away before he grinned.

Out of the corner of his eye, Jack saw that quick turn away and he had a feeling he knew the reason for him. Looking down at the shirt, one of Kyle's, he grinned himself and then cleared his throat.
"Don't suppose you made enough for two did you?"
He knew Ianto had, knew Ianto was waiting for him to ask. The little hidden grin from the younger man ... well, it tended to work wonders didn't it?
Reply
Fine. Then he turned around and faced Jack properly, giving up.
"Guess what beans these are."
