1987 - Just graduated Recruit Training the previous December, and went to Infantry Training School, with Training Day 1 on my birthday that year. Did not graduate Sea School due to injury, and was sent to the Fleet Marine Force, finding myself assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines. Deployed to Bridgeport, CA and 29 Palms, CA that year for various training exercises.

1992 - Found myself getting off of Active Duty from the Marines as a Corporal, and starting college at DeVry in Chicago.

1997 - Working various IT jobs. This was a bad year, in that January found me having the horror of finding mom’s body in the apartment after she died of a heart attack. Kinda shook me up a bit.

2002 - Worked various jobs, making enough to have a roof over my head, and food in the tummy.

2003 - Enlisted in the Navy Reserve. Started working at FedEx Kinko’s at 55 East Monroe.

2004 - Working at FedEx Kinko's, making enough to get by. Working Navy Reserve to supplement the income.

2005 - Spent most of the year on Active Duty at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, providing internal security on the base. Advanced to Petty Officer Second Class in January of 2005.

2006 - Working a contract job that had me at the University of Chicago, doing a Migration project. I also found myself still in the Navy Reserve, and with orders to the Middle East. Planning and preparing for mobilization.

September, 2007 - Switched to a hideous schedule because of the manning we had. 12 hours on, 12 off, no days off. In that time, I think I had maybe 1 day off.
Last weekend...
October, 2007 - Mid Turnover with Navy Customs Battalion TANGO. Teaching them what they need to know to survive the deployment. Last day of work was Saturday.
Tonight...
Packing and the end of tour BBQ for Navy Customs Battalion Sierra, Bravo Company.
