armour stuff

OK, so maybe I am becoming an armourer.

Yesterday the day started with Kathrynn and I going to the junkyard in search of some steel plate. Best peice we could find is in the form of a short section of huge I beam. Like the beam was close to two feet tall. So we lug this home(with the nice help of the guy at the junkyard running a forklift. the thing is/was heavy)
Spent a few hours cutting the thing into peices, from which I then welded on my Dishing forms(Old oxygen bottles. My welding skills still need a lot of work, but shrug, they're holding.
So I now have three dishing forms attache to .5" steel plates, which will also have a couple of hols put in them to hold armouring stakes.

And then, since I have the tools out, I took an old hammer I had and cut it down and shaped it into a general raising hammer. Polishing it up was a pain, but overall, it looks pretty spiff.

Now I just need to build my table, and get my hands on a sander.

Oh, and in related news that hasn't been posted here. Kathrynn and I picked up a Kiln this week. it's old, but it was free. Should do ceramics, and heat treating of steel. too bad amtgard doesn't give points for springsteel over mild. :(
