Rules of the Game

A few simple guidelines that will help to keep things running smoothly.

1. Please, please, please NO OOC DRAMA!! It's stupid and it will not be tolerated here at all. Just one incident of it and you are out. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Here's something to help you understand better.


2. Follow the rules of RP etiquette. That means NO GOD MODING, AUTO MODING, META GAMING, etc. If you have no idea what these words mean...you can go here to get a clearer definition.


3. You need to apply to join the community and all sub-communities. After you're accepted we'd like for you to post an introduction as soon as possible, preferably within five days. It may be in character, out of character, or both. Whichever really works best for your character and yourself.

4. Any scenes that you want published; whether in a thread or AIM; can be posted in kndredspiritsrp. Also, please get the expressed permission of any parties that are involved in the scene before you post it. If anyone wishes it to not be made public, then please, do not do so. It can be placed in your journal privately if you wish to keep it..
   
   Journals are for the character's personal thoughts and such, a.k.a updates.


5. You may wish to use this format when posting a scene so anyone glancing through can get a quick overview easily:
   Who: (required)
   When: (if applicable)
   Where: (if applicable)
   Rating: (required)
   Status: (edit as needed)
   
   If you want to scene with someone, just ask them OOC first before you tag them in a post. That's just respectful


6. We urge you ot use the rating system we have set up. It's purpose is to let people know how graphic a post is. If it is NC-17, please, please put it behind a cut tag. Not everyone is comfortable reading the more graphic posts.
   
   • Rating: G → contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that would offend and reader
   • Rating: PG → there may be some profanity and some depictions of violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that readers be strongly cautioned There is no drug use content in a PG-rated post.
   • Rating: PG-13 → any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated scene generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. scenes single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating.
   • Rating: R → may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements.
   • Rating: NC-17 → signals that the content is appropriate only for an adult audience based on violence, sex, aberrational behavior, drug abuse or any other element that most readers would consider too strong.


7. Any picture or video posted that is over 500px in width should be placed behind a cut tag or resized out of respect for those with slimmer layouts. No one likes to see their friends page stretched out.


8. We like to keep as much OOC out of this com as possible. Anonymity and the illusion of the game are highly important. That means, no outing who someone else plays in any way if they wish it to not be known. Doing so will be cause for IMMEDIATE removal. That does not mean you cannont go OOC with anyone. It's simply up to the players involved how far any of that goes.


9. Tags...PLEASE USE THEM. We have a tag for EVERY character, most of the locations that the moderators know of, and ratings. If you're unsure about how to exactly use the tags, feel free to contact the mod and we will be glad to help you. They are simply a tool to use to keep things better organized.


10. We highly suggest you place a disclaimer on your profile somewhere about it being a fake profile for role playing. Live Journal recognizes these and will not delete you for impersonating someone if they know by the disclaimer that it is fake.


11. As one of the mods and the creator of kndredspiritsrp, I don't like to hinder creativity. So we welcome any type of character as long as it is not too far fetched. In other words: humans, vampires, werewolves, faries, demons, angels, etc. are all welcome. We just ask that you follow by the rules of your species or canon.


12. That brings me to this rule. I know there are loads of supernatural realms out there and each has their own set of guidelines they follow. I don't want to be some dictator when it comes to things such as that, even though this is my community. That being said, I don't see why every verse of creature can't come here. After all, there are different species of animals in the real world. Why couldn't there be different species of vampires, or werewolves, or even demons?
    
    
13. Feel free to make original characters or bring in a canon character from another verse or fandom. However, no playbys can be used more than once. Refer here for the list of taken playbys.


14. Place "Maybe I'm a different breed." in the subject line of your application entry to let us know you've read the rules. NOT YOUR COMMENT


15. If for any reason you are going to be inactive for a long time, meaning over a few weeks, please, let the community know with a post in kindredooc OR a private message to the mod so that you don't risk the chance of being removed from the com.


16. PLEASE TURN OFF IP LOGGING FOR YOUR JOURNAL. You can go here to do that if you are unsure how to.


17. We're going to ask that everyone update their character journals at least once every 8 weeks. The current guideline as stated in the rules of the game is four weeks, which we haven't enforced at all. But it seems that a lot of role playing is going on but in private such as IMs or private threads. Now that is perfectly fine to do. However, this is a role play community and we don't see too much interaction. Now we're not asking for you to post a novel every time you update. It can be something as simple as a picture, or a one liner. Just update. This opens up opportunities for everyone to interact through the comments of these posts and who knows what sort of plots that can lead to! Requiring a post at least once every eight weeks is not asking a lot at all. Most communities require it to be done every two or three AND require substantial quantity. We are looking for QUALITY!
    
    What will happen if you do not update in the allotted time? First, you will be nudged by the moderator. If something is not posted within 3 days, you will be messaged by the moderator as a reminder. After that, if you fail to update within another 2 days, you will be removed from the community.
    
    Before any of you start getting your panties in a bunch, we know there are exceptions. If someone has a moderator approved hiatus, or has informed a moderator as to why they can't update on time, then of course they are excused from the updating. But you MUST let a moderator know something is up by private messaging them, posting in kindredooc, or via the kindred mod AIM at kindredmod. Also, if there is a plot going on where you character may not be able to actually gain internet access, this will be excused also.

Rules subject to change at any time. In the event that they do, all community members will be notified immediately.
