(no subject)
so i have news for once: my research proposal got accepted! that means four thousand big ones in a lump sum for housing, food, research materials, and excess salary over the summer. and to do what you ask: read about genre, icons, television infrastructure, etc, watch futurama, venture brothers, and maybe some cowboy bebop, and write. to good to be true. now the search for an apartment begins because i sure as hell dont want to pay twice as much to live in a shitty dorm. consequently, i doubt if i'll be seeing many people this summer. i'll be in austin from may 10th or so until june 1st and then i'll be gone until august 13th or so only to come back for maybe a week or two. such it is. this summer of senior year may be the final year of parting. no more summers at home after this point. my brother's in college too, so i wont see him as much b/c of shitty northwestern schedule. independence and adulthood. i guess im as ready for them as im going to be.
ps. im thinking about pursuing fullbright fellowships to live in japan for a while. need to learn at least some of the language though. should have done that instead of latin. oh well. couldn't have known freshman year that i would be thinking about pursuing a phd in animation and film studies and that japan would be the place to be for that. im not really sweating it one way or another. the GRE is the next thing on my list after exams. we've got a fight scheduled at the end of may. we'll see how that goes.
