The dead thing with its head caved in is only just recognizable as Alex Kralie, but even before the wrench did its work, the bones were softening and warping, the skin blistering and lifting away with ADAM.
And then he drops the wrench and tears open Alex's shirt, going for the softened, tumor-bloated flesh of the stomach with his nails, soaking the cuffs of his sweater in blood. What he comes out with, cradled in both hands and steaming faintly in the chilly air is a large, dark mass. Someone familiar enough with human anatomy might recognize it as a liver.
As if that wasn't bad enough, he bends his head to it and begins to eat.
As the blood runs down his chin, the lacerations and bruises on his face begin to heal, and he can move his left arm more freely.]
