I should be prepping for class tomorrow

Thank god the spoilers I read turned out to be false. All episode I was nervous about the ending . . . you know, the one where House gets drunk and takes six Vicodin and gets the shit beaten out of him in an alley? But no, there was no such craptastic plot twist! Instead, a great ending that focused on House's ordinary, non-melodramatic pain. I loved it.

It was a really fine episode, I thought, at least if one ignores the blatantly unlikely, lawsuit-worthy stuff that House keeps doing to his patients (which one must, as it's the basis of the show). Stacy's character, unlike that limp dishrag Cameron, was a match for House--mature, independent, able to give as good as she gets. I'm hoping they won't get back together, because that would be too pat and sentimental, but at least she's someone I could reasonably see in a relationship with House.

Cameron continues to be annoying, unprofessional, and dumb. But she did regain a bit of dignity when she finally figured out that she wasn't going to cure House through love. Hopefully her role as Love Interest is now over and she can actually grow a backbone and become an interesting character.

It would be nice if Wilson got more development next year too--he's become The Best Friend in the way that Cameron was The Love Interest. And while I adore the pure true love of House and Wilson (dude, Wilson cut out of his wife's dinner party because he House needed him!), Wilson should do more than just give House stern advice alternating with pep talks. He should be a doctor. And also hang out at House's apartment more.

During the run of really bad episodes that comprised the House/Cameron arc, I had been thinking about not watching the show next year. But now I'm sure I will. The last couple of episodes have been great, and I think (hope) the show has regained its footing.
