starting POI S3

I've watched the first two episodes of S3, and I have to say, I miss the old dynamic. Two episodes and I don't think Finch and Reese have had a single scene that's just the two of them. I like Shaw okay, but I didn't want her to be part of the central team. I didn't want to lose the Finch-Reese (yeah, okay, Finch/Reese) dyad, but it feels like that's been very sharply taken away. I found the last scene of 3x02, when Shaw is there during one of Finch & Reese's walk and talks, in fact is literally between them as they walk, incredibly disheartening. Seriously, could the compulsory heterosexual imperative of "must interrupt m/m homoeroticism by putting a woman between two men" have been shown any more literally?

I also find it difficult to believe that Reese and Finch, who have been so slow to trust each other but have gradually built up such an intense connection, would want her there all the time. It would make more sense, based on everything we've seen previously, for them to keep her at arm's length like Carter or Fusco. Finch is given some dialogue about not entirely trusting her yet, but what we're seeing onscreen is her in (again literally) a central place, even largely displacing Finch who had almost nothing to do in 3x02--and this even though she's pretty much an unknown quantity who certainly has her own agenda, while Fusco and Carter have proven themselves over and over again.

I also wasn't thrilled with the "bomb defusing" plotline in 3x01. Had the writers forgotten that a bomb-defusing was a huge emotional high point in S2? Having it happen again, but this time between Fusco and RJ, who don't even know each other, undermines a major point of S2's emotional arc!

*sigh* Can we go back to Reese and Finch being obsesive about each other (*coughtrackingdevicecough*) and also going to the movies on rainy days? That was nice.

ETA: 3x03 addendum: Jesus Christ, now Shaw has even taken the fucking dog away from Finch. What the hell, show?

And also, what on earth has happened to the writing that suddenly the only interesting person on the show is Root?

I remember that a lot of people were very disenchanted at the beginning of S3. I can see the reasons for that, even apart from something bad I'm pretty sure (due to having read some folks' angry posts long before I started watching the show) is about to happen.

I know some people got back on board with the show later, so I'm trying to hope that things will get better.
