I'd definitely say Carrot is the immovable object and Vetinari the irresistible force. Vetinari is more deliberate, proactive, and ambitious. Carrot is just Carrot, and more inclined to do things because that's what he does.
Yes, I mostly agree. But if Carrot and Vetinari were intimate, I could see Carrot trying to convince Vetinari to change in certain ways--to trust people more, for example--and Vetinari's own deep immovability emerging. And meanwhile I think Vetinari might want to rub some of Carrot's optimism off without changing him too much, because a lot of Carrot's gift for leadership comes from the fact that he likes and trusts people. It would be a hell of an interesting dynamic.
So he meets Giles, who at the point (in my fanon) is an archivist/researcher for the Watchers' Council, and together they fight crime translate things and talk about history and drink tea and have good sex. And the occasional adventure, because these things happen to the Doctor.
And then Giles has to leave for America in early 1997, saddening them both, but it's probably just as well that the Doctor didn't have a boyfriend in 2001 when Fitz turned up again.
It wasn't me; it was sallymn. :-) However I very much like the idea of Vila/Leela. I've written Vila going off with For after GP, so it's even possibly. ;-)
I don't much like Vila/Avon either unless their dynamic is different to what we usually see. I like to write them as friends because I think there's some grudging respect on both sides there that could work in a war friendship. The thought of Vila/Avon in S4 is dowbright creepy though; they weren't even the slightest bit friends then.
I am also intrigued with the idea of Vetinari/Carrot. He must know who Carrot is, and Carrot is a lot cleverer than people (excluding Vimes and Vetinari) realise.
Vetinari realizes who Carrot is in Guards! Guards! when he looks at Carrot's sword (which broke the "royal" sword). It's specifically described as a Trousers of Time moment. A look down another leg (I think Time's trousers must have lots of legs) could be really interesting.
Giles and Lupin could also, if one sets the story pre-Prisoner of Azkaban, bond over having once loved The Wrong Man.
I can't see that Giles wouldn't have a Mucous Membrane bootleg tucked away somewhere. It's his kind of music.
And if not, it's still better than most of the music he canonically likes. (Pardon me, my bias is showing . . .). My Giles/Constantine fanon is actually more than Giles and Ethan and John had a threesome. Although it's possible that Giles met Constantine first and then met Ethan's crowd through him. Hmmmmm.

And I totally see Giles/Lupin, it's all twisty magic and a bit of snark here and there, and some sharing of werewolf lore.
