I think I want Ianto to become the Doctor's new boyfriend companion.
Now THAT I like! :)
This ep bugged me too, esp the way Jack behaved about Gwen, even if she didn't annoy me as much as usual- or maybe that was cus I was more bothered about Jack and poor Ianto, given the way the relationships were so pointedly contrasted, i.e. het strong and good, Jack/Ianto not going anywhere. I just don't get Jack/Gwen at all as other than friends/colleagues.
I think there is plenty of things to support the idea that Janto will still be going strong at the end of this season, including a pre-season two interview with JB:
"Captain Jack might settle down with a nice man in series two, but which man that will be I can't tell you."
I've seen him (JB) say that a couple of times. Another time he said that Jack was looking for love, and he personally would like to see him settle down with a nice man in this season. So chin up, Janto fans :-)
*shrugs* It's nice that Barrowman wants to see Jack with a man (and I hope he's putting pressuring on RTD for that to happen) but he's not writing the show.
Anyway, while I appreciate the attempt to cheer me up, I'm trying to remain as spoiler-free as possible about future episodes.

No, me neither. They have no chemistry at all. And if they really wanted to be together, there's no reason for them not to be (Gwen has cheated on Rhys before, and in any case could leave him, and Jack is . . . Jack) so the idea of them pining away is really not believable.
I have no problem with Gwen in general, or with Gwen/Rhys or even Gwen/Owen. But I don't like Gwen/Jack and I don't like the implication that het relationships are realer/better than same-sex ones.
*lightbulb goes on* OMG, Ianto/Rhys! It's the perfect pairing for two lovely guys who deserve WAY better!
