This is a tiny little thing, and much more speculative than my fics usually are (speculative in the sense of "I think this may be going to happen in canon"). Its inspiration was the little chat between Eirene and Pullo in the most recent episode of Rome, "Heroes of the Republic." But it's not really spoilery

I have just come across this! Love it unreservedly. Extremely clever references to:
- poisoning food (readers fooled into thinking 'poisoning is better than spitting')
- smashing heads (readers fooled into thinking about what happened to the slave who wanted to marry Eirene)
- still waters that run deep (readers realise how RIGHT Eirene is, and grin broadly)

Any chance at all (what would work? bribes? flattery? seduction? dire threats?) of you writing more?

There is some amazing phrasing here, I especially like the last line, the part where she dies smiling. You've captured the emotion of vengence perfectly.
