So today I move from my Manolo Blahnik shoebox to stay with Rebecca for a night, then leave my big pack at her place and take my (new! and gorgeous! and cheap!) big black shoulder bag with me to Edinburgh to visit Sharon for two days (YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY SNET REUNION!!!).
Then back to visit with Rebecca again for a day or two til I fly out, hopefully Thursday or Friday. I am stupidly excited about going back to work, but I'm also loving my time in London because...
YESTERDAY WAS AWESOME!!!!
Rebecca had the day off work so the two of us went shopping in the city; walked and talked and giggled and speculated on what we would do with lots of money. We had lunch at a lovely South Indian place then kept shopping (it was mad in the city). When Helen finished work, we met her for a quick dinner at a Japanese place and then went to see Les Miserables at the West End.
Oh My God.
I have never, ever been so moved by something like that in my life. I cried and cried throughout - I can't adequately describe how heartfelt the performance was. The cast was given a standing ovation at the end; choosing to go with a packed house on a Friday night was definitely a good move. I hadn't listened to the soundtrack or looked at youtube clips of the musical in general for quite a long time, and was absolutely overwhelmed by the whole experience.
'...and remember, the truth that once was spoken; to love another person is to see the face of God...'
I thought about that as I lay awake afterwards and wondered why it is the last two years - and particularly the last four months - I've suddenly been questioning all these spiritual things I rejected after I turned 15. A bit of soul-searching is due, I think.
